Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU), at Mikocheni Dar es Salaam, is looking for
qualified and well experienced candidates, to fill the following senior positions:
1. DEPUTY VI CE CHANCELLOR ACADEMI C
AFFAI RS(DVCAC)
Qualifications: Applicants must be in possession of a PhD degree or equivalent from
an accredited University, and an academic rank of at least Associate Professor;
excellent record of academic leadership in teaching, research, and publication;
outstanding record of experience in providing community service; and tested integrity
with management experience in academic institutions. He/she must have at least 5
years of senior academic leadership experience in universities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) The Chief advisor to the Vice Chancellor on all academic matters, pertaining to:
a. Coordination and management of Postgraduate Studies.
b. Research and Publications.
c. Coordination of Undergraduate Studies.
d. Coordination of Continuing Education.
e. Timetabling and related matters.
f. Quality Assurance of all academic outputs.
2) Overall responsibility for conduct of admissions, examinations, and all academic
related activities, including Graduation ceremony events.
3) In charge of the academic staff performance review process.
4) Serving as Chairperson for a number of academic related committees.
5) Acts on behalf of the Vice Chancellor (VC) when he/she is away.
6) Performs any other such duties as assigned by the VC from time to time
Reporting to: The Vice Chancellor.
Supervises: All staff in the office of the DVC, Academic Affairs.
Tenure: Four (4) years contract, renewable for two further terms, subject to
satisfactory performance and successful completion of a one-year probation period
upon recruitment.
Remuneration: According to the HKMU salary scales and fringe benefits which are
attractive.
2. DEAN FACULTY OF NURSI NG
Qualifications: The candidate must be holder of a Ph.D. degree, and at least four
years as a University Lecturer, with a nursing background, and management experience
in a reputable University/institution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Responsible for conduct of all academic activities in the Faculty of Nursing.
2) Handles staff recruitment, deployment and training affairs at Faculty level.
3) Oversees annual performance evaluation of all staff in his/her Faculty including
feedbacks.
4) Prepares and compiles departmental data at Faculty level for purposes of
submission to relevant offices.
5) Chairs all Faculty Board meetings or meetings of its committees.
6) Supervises all Heads of academic departments at Faculty level.
7) Supervises the conduct of examinations in the Faculty.
8) Manages finances allocated to the Faculty.
9) Prepares quarterly progress reports.
10)Prepares strategic plan for Faculty.
11)Prepares annual budget for the relevant units at Faculty level.
12)Supervises academic performance of students in his/ her Faculty,
13)Performs any other duties assigned by DVCAC/Vice Chancellor.
Reporting to: Deputy Vice Chancellor Responsible for Academic Affairs.
Supervises: All Academic, Administrative and Technical Staff in the Faculty of Nursing.
Tenure: Three 3 years contract renewable once subject to satisfactory performance
and successful completion of a one year probation period.
