Black businesses have almost no support from the
black community because blacks do not control their
own media
BLACK BUSINESS AND THE MEDIA
Only 10 Mega corporations actually control most
products that are advertised

These companies pay billions to advertise brands as
diverse as peanut butter, baby food and clothing.
Black companies cannot compete in this space.
Those advertising billions are spent back with
relationship partners in media.

Only 6 Companies control 90% of media and
programming
BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES
FAILURE
Despite black consumer mass spending , black businesses continue to struggle, suffer and fail.
Studies show that Black Entrepreneurs are 50% more likely to start businesses but fail at a
higher rate than their white counterparts.
1.7 million firms will still be in existence after four years. Of those firms only 3,200 will have
grown to 100 or more employees. Of those 3,200 firms that exist after 4 years, only 1% of them
will be African-American owned.
Pew research finds that median wealth of white households have held 20% increase over black
households during the global recession indicating that blacks and their businesses have suffered
the most during the recession.
850 Billion USD are spent by black consumers with 90% being spent with non black businesses
therefore black businesses unable to hire and support their own community.

Blacks in America hardly control their media and therefore black businesses are unable to afford advertising
That would allow them to reaching black consumers. This is the primary contributor to black business failure in
America.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were
1.9 million black-owned businesses in 2007.
Of Which Only 106,824 had paid employees
These businesses employed 921,032 people, their
payrolls totaled $23.9 billion
Receipts from black-owned employer businesses
totaled $98.9 billion.
In 2007, 1.8 million black-owned businesses had
no paid employees.
The number of black-owned businesses with
receipts of $1 million or more increased by 35.4
percent to 14,507 between 2002 and 2007.

AFRICAN AMERICAN
ECONIMICS IN REALITY
Though African Americans are buying, the unemployment
rate is the highest amongst any other group in America as
the wealth gap has widened significantly between blacks,
Latinos and whites. According to Pew Research: Blacks
have jobs but not wealth.

If more black consumers supported African Businesses, black business
would be able to employ more black employees and economically sustain
their communities.
AFRICAN AMERICAN ECONOMICS REALITY
The poverty rate for all African
Americans in 2012 was 28.1%
which is an increase from 25.5% in
2005.
Black families with children under
18 headed by a single mother have
the highest rate of poverty at 47.5
compared to only 8.4% percent of
married-couple black families.
According to the Washington Post: -
black homeowners in the Washington
region were almost 90 percent more
likely, to face foreclosure or lose their
homes than similarly situated whites.
foreclosure rates has also
permanently damage black credit
scores barring them from starting
businesses and participating in the
wealth in America
THE PROUDLI SOLUTION
The Proudli strategy to ameliorate these concerns with black business ownership, to correct
poor consumer choices and address unemployment in the black community by consolidating
black businesses.
Combining black businesses over a social networking platform will harness the attention of
black consumers and develop businesses through marketing and advertising.

This strategy will provide growing and established black businesses with the opportunity to
globally reach their target market, increase black business sustainability, employment and
community development amongst blacks in the diaspora.
Providing an international outlook to a grassroots approach will introduce businesses to
more consumers who would like to see black businesses grow and succeed.
THE DIASPORA AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

African American spending power is approaching 1 Trillion U.S. Dollars.
Black British consumers spend well over 300 Billion Dollars Per Year.
The United States Department of Commerce has increased initiatives for African
American Business Owners to participate in trade with Africa, due to her 272 Billion
Dollar market for imports.
Caribbean Exports to the European Union alone is 8 Billion Euros.
Caribbean Exports to The United States alone is 22.1 Billion U.S. Dollars
Caribbean Exports from the United States to the Caribbean is 33.6 Billion U.S. Dollars
based on figures from Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Bahamas and Trinidad alone.
It is evident that not only does blacks of the world now live in a
globalized marketplace but Africans in the diaspora and on the
continent are also capable of sustaining international business. now
the question becomes about how can blacks in the global
marketplace capitalize on building his own community through global
trade?
AFRICAN GROWTH
Six of the fastest growing economies in the world are
located on the African continent.
Africans in the diaspora can participate in this
exponential growth by forming alliances, building
relationships and establishing businesses.

As a Pan African Mobile App, Proudli opens the
Diaspora to the African continent to participate in
growth and create relationships.
Proudli is the realization of reparations and
repatriation expressed in a modern electronic
business environment
PROUDLI MEDIA
Black owned media is a necessary part of
black owned trade, without a media
outlet. retailers will not be confident in
reaching their target audience, without a
black owned media entity advertising to
black consumers, any initiative in
developing sustainable trade would be
lost.
Developing advertising initiatives to
remain visible and sustainable to reach
our demographic is of paramount
concern.
Proudli is also a business television show
and radio program, showcasing
entrepreneurs businesses and items
listed on the mobile app.
A television show broadcasted across the
Caribbean, The United States and Europe
guarantees consistent visibility and
longevity of the mobile App.
Last Year Alone more than 3.3 Billion U.S.D was spent on
advertising to The Black and Latino Population. To remain
visible and relevant in trade and business initiatives, African
Businesses must actively participate in all platforms of
communications to reach their consumers and would be
customers.
Without Telecommunications across all electronic platforms
sustainable black business will continue to have poor growth

GROWING SENSITIVITY TO BLACK CONSUMER SPENDING
Blacks have become more and more sensitive to their consumer spending habits and are slowly waking up to
the reality that they have outspent themselves out of the American dream.
In past years, old champions of African Businesses such as Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Dr. Claude Anderson
and Bob Law have, been joined by new voices such as : The Empowerment Experiment, Tavis Smiley and other
black owned initiatives by the National Urban League and the Congressional black caucus to relentlessly
bring awareness to black consumers to their spending habits.
African American women too have been instrumental in this awakening
in the natural hair movement as many realize that they have been
supporting other businesses and families through the habit of
purchasing hair products, meanwhile their children and families lack the
support that is needed.
In this awakening, many black owned natural hair product manufacturers
have answered by developing new products for black consumers.
Black consumers have become increasingly conscious of their position
as the spenders, meanwhile their communities crumble and are thirsty
for change.
Many more would like to purchase black owned goods but are not able to
find businesses that are actually black owned.
The time to act and invest
in buying black initiatives
is now.
Black consumers are
sensitive, to their buying
power and are acting
proactively!
