Welcome to the 2014-2015
BOSC year! I am so very excit-
ed to be serving as your BOSC
president. I am looking forward
to a fun filled year with lots of
exciting happenings. We have
been busy planning some won-
derful events for the year, and
hope each one of you will be
able to join us for those.
For those of you who do not
know me, my name is Amy
Waring. My husband is the cur-
rent Green Flag Det. 1 com-
mander here at Barksdale. If
you are unfamiliar with that, it
is primarily a fighter exercise
and training program that is
based out of Nellis AFB, and
takes place at Barksdale. We
have been stationed here for 2
years. My husband Brett, and I
have two and a half children.
Tristan (15) and Addie (7) and
our fur-baby, Strafe (yes, my
husband named him). I am a
professionally trained chef
(Johnson and Wales) and cook-
ing is truly my passion/hobby.
My dream is to one day own
my own restaurant. But that is
after retirement, of course.
One of the things I love most
about BOSC, is our mission
statement. "The Barksdale OSC
(BOSC) is a private non-profit
organization for Officers'
spouses at Barksdale Air Force
Base. Our mission is to create a
supportive, comfortable arena
for our members to explore
social connections, volunteer-
ism and educational opportuni-
ties." I believe in this statement
and will strive to lead the
BOSC in this direction.
Our August social is quickly
approaching! I am very excited
about this social. It is themed
"Bienvenue en Barksdale." We
have invited some of the treas-
ures from our community to
come and share with us their
businesses and such. There are
so many great things about
living in the Shreveport/
Bossier area. From wonderful
food to great entertainment.
We hope to highlight some of
those great things at our so-
cial. Even after being here for
2 years, I still frequently find
new great things about this
area.
Our August social is our
membership drive social. I
hope that each of you will be
able to attend, and will bring a
friend. The first social of the
new year will be August 19th
at 6:30 PM, Barksdale Club. I
look forward to seeing you all
in August!
