Duties
This position is located in the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, (DYRS), Office of the Director. Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the Director's office and the Office of the Chief of Staff ensuring full coordination and compliance with District and Federal laws, policies, regulations, court orders, and operating agreements. The incumbent handles a wide range of important departmental matters, provides senior level coordination for planning, organizing, and developing vital policies, regulations, directives, and procedures required to resolve issues and challenges that impact the successful accomplishment of the Department's strategic plans, goals, and objectives. Works closely with the management team of the Department's major organizations and activities to facilitate communication and to ensure the implementation of stated objectives in a timely and efficient manner. Manages critical action items with senior management officials. Provides coordination and oversight in the development of defined core initiatives for the Director. Collaborates with other members of the organization to leverage subject-matter expertise to assist in executing major
Departmental initiatives. Participates with the Director and other senior officers in planning, policy development, and problem resolution. Coordinates and integrates the activities of senior staff and advisors to the Director in the development and implementation of established core initiatives for DYRS.
Qualifications
Education Requirement: Master's Degree in Public or Business Administration or a Juris Doctorate Degree and a minimum of five (5) years of varied experience and responsibility in supervising staff and managing complete operations; or an equivalent combination of eleven (11) years of education, training, and experience sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the position is required. Experience in youth servicing field is preferred.
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
