AT&T Announces 4G LTE Available in Mankato & North Mankato
AT&T Also Announces $7,700 Donation to YWCA Mankato
to Support Leadership Development Programs for Teen Girls

MANKATO, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 Mankato Mayor Eric Anderson and business and community
leaders joined with AT&T* today to announce the launch of 4G LTE in the Mankato area and a $7,700 AT&T
donation to the YWCA.

The AT&T donation will help support leadership development programs at the YWCA for Mankato teenage
girls, including this summers Surge
TM
Camp for girls in grades 9-12. The camp focuses on activities from
the proven SURGE leadership program curriculum and will be offered August 19-22 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30
p.m. at Bethel Church in Mankato.

We are thrilled to receive this donation from AT&T, said Barb Dorn, Executive Director of the YWCA
Mankato. This funding will support our leadership development programs that help teen girls gain the
leadership skills and confidence they need to be successful in life.

The AT&T donation will also help support Surge
TM
leadership programs this fall for girls in junior and senior
high school. The 13-week program is designed to help girls understand their own ability to control their
future through use of their strengths, positive thinking, goal setting and life planning.

AT&T also announced today that it has turned on the nations most reliable 4G LTE network** in Mankato
and North Mankato, bringing customers the latest generation of wireless network technology. Watch here to
see several of the benefits AT&T 4G LTE provides, including faster speeds, reliability, cool new devices,
faster response time and more efficient use of spectrum.

We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our 4G LTE network in Mankato responds to
what customers want from their mobile experience more, faster, reliably, on the best devices, said Paul
Weirtz, president of AT&T Minnesota. AT&T is not only committed to continuing to invest in our Minnesota
network, but to also helping strengthen our communities through donations to organizations like the YWCA
Mankato.

This is wonderful news for Mankato, our residents and our businesses, said Mayor Anderson. The
demand for the latest mobile Internet technologies will only grow, and we are excited to see AT&T investing
in our community to provide that technology. It is also great to companies like AT&T giving back to the
community through charitable donations like todays announcement to the YWCA.

Fast and reliable mobile technology is critical to growing our states economy, said State Senator Kathy
Sheran. This investment is great news for Mankato because advancements in mobile technologies not only
drive economic growth, but help residents stay connected and businesses stay competitive in a global
economy.

Todays 4G network expansion is part of AT&Ts Project Velocity (VIP), a three-year investment plan
announced in fall 2012 to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks. Through this investment, AT&T is
supporting its customers growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-
based services. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to add macro cell sites nationwide by year-end 2015, as
well as deploy small cells and add Distributed Antenna Systems to increase the density of its wireless
network.

Watch here to see several of the benefits AT&T 4G LTE provides, including:

Faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster
than 3G***. Customers can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before.
Reliability. AT&T has the nations most reliable 4G LTE network.
Cool new devices. AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTE
smartphones and tablets.
Faster response time. LTE technology offers lower latency than other wireless technologies, which
means faster processing time to move data through a network, such as initiating a webpage or file
download. Lower latency helps to improve services like mobile gaming, two-way video calling and
telemedicine.
More efficient use of spectrum. Wireless spectrum is a finite resource, and LTE uses spectrum
more efficiently than other technologies, creating more space to carry data traffic and services and to
deliver a better network experience.

From 2010 to 2013, AT&T invested more than $525 million in its best-in-class wireless and wired networks
in Minnesota, driving a wide range of upgrades to enhance speed, reliability, coverage and performance for
residents and business customers. In 2013 alone, AT&T made more than 700 network upgrades in
Minnesota, including 34 new sites built, 365 capacity enhancements, and 376 enhanced fiber (Ethernet)
backhaul adds.
