Title: Solar Module Mounting Structure a bounty of alternate renewable

energy
Summary: The solar module is used as a component of a larger photovoltaic system to
generate and supply electricity in residential and commercial complexes. Solar modules used
light energy (photon) from the sun to produce electricity through photovoltaic effect.
Content: Solar power is the ultimate solution in the renewable energy generation sector. It has
been explored on large scale turnkey projects (EPC) for establishing on grid power plants .Waste
lands can be converted into solar farms. Such projects are ideal for power starved country like
ours. Government of India and state governments are interested in purchasing power from
private parties through long term power purchase agreement (PPA).Solar power plants are built
from 5 KW onwards. This solution is aimed at commercial buildings, schools, hotels, industries,
malls, clubs, community halls and clubs. Solar module mounting system is highly engineered
solution that secures the range without damaging the roof. This module is compatible with the
conventional photo voltaic modules.
Solar module mounting structure is hot dip galvanized to prevent corrosion and eventually it
saves installation time and labor cost. It is specially developed for use with framed photo voltaic
modules. This method is common all over the world. Modules are inserted and locked into the
system using special aluminium profiles. Solar module mounting systems has three components-
mounting structure, clamps-screws for fixing and Photo voltaic module. This system consists of
stable galvanized frame mounted on a number of brackets or roof fixed directly to the roof
structure.Verticle profiles are fastened to these brackets and horizontal section profiles are
spaced and fastened with mounting screws.
Solar module mounting structure is of various types:
Fixed modules (either single module or multiple modules) are mounted on a pole, a roof, free
standing on a ground or integrated into a building. Fixed mounting structure tilt the modules at a
fixed angle. The fixed mounting should be steady, flat and well ventilated. They should be sturdy
enough to withstand heavy rainfall and windfall. Flexible modules use same mounting structures
but the mountings are different. Tracking structure is more expensive and requires extensive
maintenance.
Modules that are mounted on a pole are easy to install and can be easily exposed to the sunlight.
For roof mounting the most regular support structure consists of racks. It is important to leave a
10 cm space between the roof and the array for ventilation. Free-standing arrays on a ground
support, usually consisting of racks, are easy to install and to adjust towards the Sunlight.
Building-integrated Photo Voltaic arrays consist of thin film modules.
