Thefirst and foremost component of aGibson guitar isthewood. Tone woods
arechosen for their ability to produceand sustain tone. Only thefinest hard
maple, spruce, mahogany, rosewood and ebony isselected for tightness, con-
sistency of grain and evennessof color.
Gibson Custom Shop instrumentsreceiveat least eight coatsof hand-
applied nitrocelluloselacquer, painstakingly buffed to a
high glossfinish. Gibson hasbeen perfecting this
processfor over acentury.
