Since my childhood I was taught by my dad that Service to men is service to God.

So I was
always interested in some profession where I can serve the society. One of my uncles was just
45 years old when he died because of Oral Cancer. This was the main driving force that made
me choose dentistry as my profession. I worked hard and I got higher scores in my 12
th
grade
which made my dream come true- admission into Manubhai Patel Dental College and Hospital,
Gujarat, India.
Once I got into dental college, I had just one thing in my mind- gain as much knowledge as
possible. I have been interested in studying various oral diseases, their etiology, pathogenesis
and related treatments. Additionally, the ongoing research has always fascinated me to learn
more. With my hard work and diligence I got 2nd rank in first 2 years and 1
st
rank in last 2
years of my college. The best time was the clinical rotations where I observed upper classmen
and clinical faculties building rapport with patients and treating them. I came across patients
walking in with maladies and pain and recovering with proper care in timely manner and
appreciating the doctors and dental staff. Its an honor for me to be in such a valuable
profession in the society and making difference. Apart from studies, I was also interested in
extra-curricular activities. I participated in the annual college celebrations, during which I got
prizes in dance, singing and sport events.
During college, it was also interesting to participate in various dental check-up camps in
schools in underserved areas that made me realize the prevalence of several dental
abnormalities like malocclusion, caries, periodontitis and smoking related oral pathologies. This
ultimately increased my commitment to the profession. I developed communication skills to
create awareness about oral hygiene among the people. My classroom presentations on topics
such as Diseases of Salivary glands, Development of tooth, Primary management of trauma
of oral and maxillofacial region and Ulcerative lesions enhanced my ability to do research on
books and related online journals.
During my internship, I got good training from clinical faculties and got confidence to treat
common oral diseases. Being an intern, and sincere student, I got an opportunity to lead the
group discussions of dental disorders with my colleagues. Besides routine dental treatment, I
also performed minor oral surgeries, bridges and composite veneers. As an intern I also worked
at a community health center named -Ansuiya Holistic health clinic. Here I enhanced my
clinical skills under kind supervision of Dr. Bartake, one of the most renowned dentists in city.
This boosted my confidence and gave me an idea of difference between private dental practice
and institutional dental practice.
My future goal lies in providing treatment to those who have negligible access to it. Seeing
the smile of satisfaction on my patients faces will be my ultimate reward. Dentistry is a rapidly
evolving and dynamic field. I intend to be the part of this evolution by joining it rather than just
following it. This can be best accomplished by studying the recent advancements and
participating in the vigorous ongoing researches. Advanced placement program will provide the
knowledge and perspective to step ahead towards my goal. This can be achieved only if I am
able to study under the guidance of the experienced and scholarly staff at your reputed
institution. Globalization of Indian Medical Services is the key motivating factor for me to learn
from international school in my field.
The advanced standing program in your university will ingrain in me the solid fundamental
essential to be a cutting edge professional. It will inculcate valued team learning experiences,
new techniques and method of dealing with ethical dilemmas. I want to be part of this thriving
learning environment and I assure you that if given an opportunity to study further I would put
in my utmost effort and work with sincerity and dedication. I respectfully submit my application
with supporting documents and thank the committee for considering me.
