Urban Forestry & Natural Resources Project Manager

Position Summary:
The Urban Forestry & Natural Resources Project Manager is responsible for forestry related activities that
complement the strengths offered by various Land Conservancy programs. To accomplish this, the Urban
Forestry & Natural Resources Project Manager manages the full range of activities required to implement
targeted projects. Examples of projects include urban reforestation, stream restoration and land management.
This requires setting goals, establishing timelines and budgets, collaborating with partners, coordinating
activities across teams, and tracking progress and results. In addition to project management, the Urban Forestry
& Natural Resources Project Manager will assist in grant writing, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate
records across multiple projects. The Urban Forestry & Natural Resources Project Manager is a member of the
land protection team and Thriving Communities staff and collaborates closely with partnering organizations.
Demonstrated commitment to the Land Conservancys mission is essential.

Essential Functions & Experience:
Knowledge of urban forestry, local environmental issues and regional needs;
Arboriculture: Experience in site selection, planting, trimming/removal, pest/disease identification,
fertilization, and watering of trees;
Experience working with watershed groups and other partners on land management and stream
restoration activities;
Familiarity working with Urban Tree Canopy Assessment data and Tree Master Plans;
Comfortable working in diverse socio-economic conditions;
Experience with grant/proposal writing and ability to connect with foundations, and key stakeholders, as
well as corporate, philanthropic and public funding sources;
Experience managing volunteer projects;
Ability to coordinate and implement educational outreach efforts;
Experience working with a wide variety of partners, including community residents, municipal officials,
and private and non-profit professionals;
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently;
Big picture thinker with ability to sort, manage and prioritize details;
Outstanding communications skills, both written and verbal;
Experience working with GIS;
Willingness to work nights and weekends.

Required Education:
Must have 5+ years work experience in forestry, urban forestry, natural resources or conservation. Bachelors or
advanced degree from an accredited college in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Environmental Science or Natural
Resources required. ISA Certified Arborist required; ISA Certified Municipal Arborist strongly preferred.
