6TH CABINET MEETING HELD ON 23RD JULY, 2014

H.E. the President today chaired a Cabinet Meeting in which Cabinet approved
the following Bills for tabling in the National Assembly.

(i Environmental Management and Coordination Bill! "#$%&
(ii 'he P(blic )ervice (*al(es and Principles Bill! "#$%&
(iii 'he Persons +eprived of ,iberty Bill! "#$%

-n addition Cabinet also approved.
(a 'he -mplementation of +igital Payments to /overnment. 'he
-mplementation of +igital Payments for /overnment services is a 0ey
component of /overnment1s goal of attaining a signi2cantly cashless economy
by "#$3. 'his is e4pected to contrib(te to red(ced costs! increased e5ciency
across the economy and signi2cant e4pansion in 2nancial incl(sion.
-n approving the digital payments gateway! the Cabinet noted with
appreciation the gains made at both the Ministry of ,and! Ho(sing and 6rban
+evelopment and the )tate ,aw o5ce (Companies 7egistry where a signi2cant
rise in reven(e collection estimated at 8#9 has been reported. 'hese
improvements were attrib(ted to introd(ction of Electronic Payment in the two
departments.
