(c) 3: 4 (d) 5: 6
5. From a right circular cylinder of radius 10 cm X height 21 cm, a right circular cone
of same base radius is removed. If the volume of the remaining portion is 4400 cm3 ,
then the height of the cone removed is
(a) 15 cm (b)18 cm
(c) 21 cm (d) 24 cm
6. The radii of two spheres are in the ratio 3:4. The ratio of their surface areas is
(a) 3:16 (b) 4:16
(c) 6:16 (d) 9:16
7. The length and breadth of a field are in the ratio of 5:3. If its area is 375 m2 ,
the perimeter of the field (in meters) is
(a) 50 (b) 60
(c) 80 (d) 90
8. The adjacent sides of a parallelogram measure 20 m and 16 m. If the distance
between the longer sides is 8 m, then the distance between the shorter sides (in
meters) is
(a) 5 (b) 10
(c) 12 (d) 20
9. An equilateral triangle is inscribed in a circle. If the side of the triangle is 12 cm,

Solutions
1. (d) Required ratio = 1 : l X b = 1 : 16 X 20 = 1 : 320.
2. (b) Curved surface area = pi * r *l = 22/7 * 7* 25 = 550 sq.cm.
3. (c) Volume of right pyramid = 1/3 * area of base * height = 1/3 * (8)2 * 30 = 640
cubic.cm.
4. (b) 4/3*pi*r3 : pi * r2 * (2r) = 2 : 3
5. (c) on solving pi*r2*H 1/3 * pi * r2*h = 4400 , we get , h = 21 cm
6. (d) (3)2 : (4)2 = 9 : 16
7. (c) on solving the given information, we get l = 15cm and b = 25cm. Thus
perimeter = 80cm
8. (b) on solving h * 16 = 20 * 8, we get h = 10cm
9. (a) radius of circle = 12/root 3 = 4root3 . Thus, area of circle =48pi sq.cm.
10. (c) on solving 2(20+20)*h = 2*20*20 , we get h = 10cm. Thus , the volume =
4000 cubic cm
