Tournament Rules

1. Referee’s decision is final.

2. No protests/appeals will be heard on a referee’s decision.

3. All teams (team officials) must present themselves at the tournament desk 1 hour prior to their first game to present
their approved original roster and original travel permit. All game sheets are to stay at the tournament desk to be filled
out during the tournament. Please make sure you have all documents with you upon arrival.

4. Teams using Affiliated Players (A/P’s) must present their approved Affiliated Player Roster when registering their team.
Affiliated Players may only play for one team in the Tournament.

5. All games are played under OMHA rules and regulations with the exception of fighting penalties. Please see Rule #
19. All suspensions are as per OMHA and CHA ruling.

6. Teams will be responsible for any damage to the dressing’s rooms and other arena facilities. Report any damage to the
tournament office before using the assigned room. Tournament organizers and representatives are not responsible for
any lost or stolen articles.

7. Dressing Rooms must be vacated 20 minutes after each game.

8. A total of 19 players may be signed to the OMHA Tournament Sign In Form (including AP players).

9. All teams will play a minimum of 3 games (Round Robin).

10. Length of Games


Novice & Atom Periods 10/10/10, stop time.
Peewee Periods 10/10/15, stop time.
Bantam & Midget Periods 10/15/15, stop time

11. Divisions
Novice – 1 Division of 6, each team playing 3 round robin games.
Atom, Bantam & Midget – 2 Divisions A & B, 4 teams per division playing 3 round robin games.
Peewee, - 3 Divisions A, B, & C, 4 teams per division playing 3 round robin games.

12. Determination of Division Winners


Winners will be determined by point system as follows: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.
Semi Finals- Novice – The top 4 teams after round robin play will advance to the semi finals. 1st plays 4th, 2nd plays
3rd..The winners of the semi final games will play each other in the Championship finals.
Semi Finals- Atom, Bantam & Midget - The top 2 teams in each division after round robin play will advance to the
semi finals, with the 1st team in each division playing the 2nd place team in the other division.
The winner of the semi-final games will advance to the Championship Finals.
Semi Finals – Peewee– Winners of each division advance to the Semi Finals. One Wild Card spot is available and is
determined by the team with the next best record (points). The Winner of Division A plays winner of Division B. The
Winner of Division C plays the Wildcard. The winner of the Semi Final games will play in the Champions ship Finals.

(a) In the event of a tie in points after the round robin games the following procedure will be followed until a
winner is declared.
(b) The result of the game between the teams involved will determine the winner.

(head to head if 2 teams are tied). If there is a 3 way tie then the best plus/minus (goals for and against) will
determine the winner. If still a 2 way tie then revert back to the head to head results between the two tied
teams.
(c) The best plus/minus (goals for and against).
(d) The team with the least amount of penalty minutes as per OMHA rules. (ei. Game misconducts are not
included in total minutes).
(e) The team that scored the 1st goal in the game between the tied teams.

13. Overtime will be played ONLY in the Semi Final and Championship games. There will be NO
change of ends after regulation time. The following format applies: One ten minute sudden
victory overtime period. If there is still a tie there will be a second ten minute overtime period
with 1 goaltender and 4 skaters per team starting. If after the first 2 minutes of the 10 minute period the game is still
tied a buzzer will sound and play will commence with 3 skaters per team. If still tied after the 2 minutes a buzzer will
sound and play will commence with 2 skaters per team. If still tied after the 2 minutes of play the buzzer will sound
again, play will commence with 1 skater per team. Each 2 minute interval will start from centre ice. Play will continue
until a goal is scored. All penalties carry over to all overtime periods including after 2 minute buzzer. Should the
number of players on the ice be the goaltender and 1 skater and a penalty occurs, the non-offending team will be
allowed an extra player and offending player will go to the penalty bench.

14. Complying with the rules of the International Silver Stick Association any player receiving a fighting penalty is out of the
tournament. When a player is assigned their 4th penalty of the game they will be immediately ejected by a referee. A
player on the ice at that time must serve the ejected players penalty.

15. If a player is late to a game, they must be on the game sheet and on the ice before the end of the 2nd period.

16. No Timeouts allowed during round robin games. One 30 second timeout in the Semi Final and Championship games
per team.

17. Teams must be prepared to go on the ice up to 15 minutes prior to their scheduled start time. The pre-game warm up
will start immediately after the arena attendant closes the Zamboni doors after the flood. Teams are not to go on the ice
until the doors are closed.

18. Pre game warm ups will be limited to a maximum of 3 minutes. Players must be ready for the opening face off after the
3 minute warm up. If they are not, the first period playing time will be sacrificed.

19. Any player receiving a match penalty is out of the tournament.

20. Any individual(s) who can not control themselves and act in a respectable fashion towards the players, officials,
coaches, tournament officials, or other tournament spectators will be ejected from the arena. The person(s) ejected
from the arena during the tournament must leave immediately and will not be allowed to participate as a spectator for
the duration of the tournament. Should this individual refuse to leave in a timely fashion the game will be forfeited.
Team officials are required to supply the name of that individual(s) to the tournament officials. Failure to do so could
result in the immediate withdrawal of the team from tournament play.

21. The team designated as the home team will wear their light colored sweaters. When the sweater colors conflict it will
be the responsibility of the home team to change.

22. All participants in the Tournament will receive a dated Silver Stick pin as a tournament memento. Each member of the
Championship team will receive a Championship Silver Stick Pin. The Championship team will also receive a
Championship Banner. All Champions and Finalists will also receive a Team Trophy or Plaque for display in their arena
as well as individual awards.

23. With the recent events in regards to the H1N1 virus, players are asked to keep their gloves on during the official hand
shake. Also referees will not be taking part in the Fair Play handshaking with team officials at the start of the game.
Instead the ref’s will approach and acknowledge the bench staff without the customary hand shake.

24. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to render decisions regarding rule interpretations, objections and
protests. All decisions are FINAL.
