COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is the first course in the calculus series. It starts with topics on functions and graphs, limit
and continuity, techniques of differentiation and its applications. It also covers simple
integration and its applications.

2.0

OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
Understand the concepts of function, limit and continuity.
Able to calculate the derivative of functions using various techniques of differentiation
such as the product rule, quotient rule, chain rule.
Apply derivatives in curve sketching or solving applies maximum and minimum
problems.
Integrate basic functions including substitution method.
Apply integration to find the area and the volume of solid of revolution between 2
curves.
