Learning Outcomes
Each course has been designed to contribute to the attainment of Graduate Competencies. The course intended
learning outcomes (CILO) indicates what students are expected to be able to do by the end of the course, which
may cover specific technical skills and personal qualities pertaining to the course given. The personal qualities may
have been reflected in the defined course learning outcomes or attained separately, outside the curriculum.
Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to be able to:
1. Understand Typography Aspects in Graphic Design and its application
2. Interpret and illustrate some existing visual style and the using of Grid System .
3. Create conceptual book that demonstrate the understanding of functional typography lay out as well as
experimental typography layout.
4. Exhibit their work, giving critical opinion and appreciation of their works and the work of others.


Project Background
The page of the page involves both the composition of columns and margins that from the page grid, and decisions
governing the size, weight, and leading of text, sub heads, and titling. Page design is likely to involve both practical
considerations such as the amount of text on page, its legibility and ease of use, and aesthetic or expressive
factors, such as impact, differentiation, and visual appeal. To express a visual message as well as a verbal one, type
is there to be used as a reading tool and or as an illustration. Lets celebrate type!


The Task
The final project is a type book that you have to put together with subject matter about an international well
known typographer or graphic designer. You have to make a book out of the lay outs and all the subject matter is
not provided. Suggestion size of the book is 20x20cm (8x8inch) with minimum 24 pages, not including the cover.
You could add pages if needed. You can use any number of columns that you want and the final product has to be
bound. You are allowed to pull images from the web if you find ones that are high enough resolution, but you are
encouraged to find images in books and scan them. For the content you are allowed to use someone elses
writings on the designer you got for the project such as an essay or article or even copy straight from a book.

- Picking out some imagery and type family (consider the level of hierarchy that you might have on the
book).
