KD Blansko SMALL HYDRO, s.r.o. (CKD SH) has received a request to provide a proposal for Cucumacayan Hydro-
Electric Power Project in El Salvador.
On the basis of the Technical Specification received CKD SH provides the proposal for the delivery of two (2)
vertical Francis turbine units with accessories and synchronous generators.

2.1.4. PAINTING
Suitable preservation and painting system taking into consideration climatic conditions and proposed
lifetime of surface treatment will be provided.

2.1.5. LUBRICANTS
Oil lubricants of below specified equipment are in accordance with ISO standard. First oil filling and
lubricants apply is included.

2.1.6. STANDARDS
Specified equipment shall be designed, manufactured, tested and commissioned according to contractors
standards and prescriptions that are in accordance with ISO, IEC and EN standards.

2.1.7. LIMITS OF DELIVERY
Scope of supply is clearly stipulated in Part II and III of this Technical Specification. Limits of the delivery in
connection with the equipment supplied by others as well as civil construction are as follows:
In connection with other part of hydraulic circuit:
Weld connection between the end part the penstock and inlet pipe upstream the main inlet valve
from the unit axis.
Outlet of draft tube liner.
In connection with civil construction:
Weld connections of anchor frames and embedded parts with anchor plates and anchors. Anchor
plates as well as anchors embedded in primary concrete are in the scope of civil contractor supply.
Free anchor material (screw jacks, pull rods, etc.) is included.
Anchor plates and anchors embedded in primary concrete shall be installed in primary concrete by the
civil contractor.
In connection with electrical part:

2.2. HYDRO-MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT

2.2.1. TURBINE INLET EQUIPMENT
2 pcs Counter Flange DN 800 PN 16 made of welded steel structure, to be welded to the penstock incl.
piping DN 800 PN 16, length approx. 600 mm, equipped with take-off for MIV by-pass piping,
penstock drainage and cooling water.
2 pcs MIV Butterfly DN 800 PN 16 placed upstream the turbine, designed as an emergency closing valve
to be able to close to full emergency water flow; equipped with flanges, positions sensors and
hydraulic single-acting servomotor for opening and counterweight for closing. Necessary sealing,
fittings and anchor material are included.
2 pcs Assembly Joint DN 800 PN 16 made of welded steel structure, placed between the main inlet
valve and make-up piece, equipped with flanges, fittings and rubber cord sealing.
2 pcs Make-up Piece DN 800 / 700 PN 16 made of welded steel structure, placed between the assembly
joint and turbine inlet, equipped with flanges and weld-on piece for connection of MIV by-pass
pipe and spiral case dewatering piping.

2.2.2. 2 pcs FRANCIS TURBINES
Vertical Francis Turbine directly coupled with vertical synchronous generator. Unit will be fully
controlled by hydraulic governing unit. Runner is overhang on generator shaft; all loading is
transmitted to the generator shaft. Turbines are designed for parallel operation with electric grid
only. Unit will be operated in mode of water level regulation.

Each turbine consists of following parts:
One (1) Runner of diameter 980 mm made of stainless steel (CrNiMo 13.4), placed on
generator shaft, equipped with rotating seal rings, dynamically balanced; ultrasonic, dye
penetration and mechanical tests are included.
One (1) Spiral case welded of steel plates, fitted with stay vanes, inlet flange DN 700 PN 16,
maintenance cover, anchor feet and frame with flange for generator connection; spiral case is
partly embedded in concrete.
One (1) Head cover made of steel, adapted to fit turbine shaft gland and slide guidance of the
regulating ring, fitted with upper bearing of guide vane stems and stationary seal ring.
One (1) Bottom ring made of steel, fitted with lower bearing of guide vane stems, stationary
seal ring and flange to fit the draft tube cone.

One (1) Guide apparatus consists of guide vanes made of stainless steel; control mechanism
consists of levers and links seated in non-lubricated bearings, regulating ring and double-acting
hydraulic servomotor with resistance position transmitter.
One (1) Braking disc with Hydro-mechanical brake controlled by pressure oil from oil pressure
unit and released by spring.
Necessary seals, fittings, anchor and foundation material is included.
2 pcs Draft Tube of straight conical type made of welded steel plates.
Necessary seals, fittings, anchor and foundation material is included.

2.2.3. HYDRAULIC GOVERNING EQUIPMENT
Hydraulic power part of computer controlled electro-hydraulic governing system of Francis turbine with
digital control system (a part of electrical equipment), designed for parallel operation with public network.
2 pcs Oil Pressure Unit designed as a compact unit with built-in accumulator, common for turbine, main
inlet valve and brakes control, designed for fully automatic control of Francis turbine at all
operating conditions including fine speed regulation in time of phasing. It is not designed for black
start, however enables safety turbine shut down at full power cut-off. The governor consists of the
following parts:
One (1) Support bracket with tank and protective vat designed for catching the whole oil volume
in hydraulic circuit.
One (1) set Electrically driven pumps.
One (1) set Main distributing valves (proportional) incl. electro-hydraulic transmitter.
One (1) Safety valve
One (1) set Pilot valves for main inlet valve and brake.
One (1) Pressure accumulator (oil/nitrogen vessel) incl. securing with energy storage for unit shut
down.
One (1) Pressure filter with el. signaling.
One (1) set Sensors, instruments, inner piping, etc.

2 sets Oil Piping consists of:
One (1) set Pressure piping of turbine guide apparatus incl. fittings and anchors.
One (1) set Pressure piping for main inlet valve control incl. fittings and anchors.
One (1) set Pressure piping for brakes control incl. fittings and anchors.
1 set Filling Equipment consists of nitrogen filling equipment for pressure accumulator, common for all
units.

2.2.4. AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT

2 sets Cooling Water System designed as a compact unit for cooling generator bearings and turbine
shaft gland; cooling water is tapped from the penstock upstream the main inlet valve, filtered in

automatic filter and after pressure reduction. Waste warmed water is discharged to the tailrace
canal.
Each system includes the following:
One (1) set Interconnecting piping made of corrosion-proof material incl. elbows, fittings,
sealing, support brackets etc.
One (1) automatic self-cleaning filter.
One (1) Mobile compressor for automatic filter sludge valve control.
One (1) El. motor driven ball valve as a main closing valve.
One (1) set Orifices for setting of discharge to particular branches.
One (1) set Connecting, sealing and anchor material.

1 set Dewatering System, water from penstock and hydraulic circuits of turbine is led to the tailrace
canal, equipped with collecting pipes, valves, connection and sealing material.
1 set Drainage System, waste water from turbine shaft gland is led to power house drainage system (is
not KD Blansko SH scope of supply), equipped with pipe, valves, connection and sealing material.
1 set Water Level Measurement of upper water level downstream the trash rack; equipped with
submersible induction pressure water level sensor incl. cable and protective tube fixed to the civil
structure by plugs.
Note: Cable from upper reservoir to the powerhouse is not included.

Turbine runner is overhang on generator shaft; all loadings from the turbine are transmitted to
generator bearings.

2.3.2. MV EQUIPMENT

MV Switchgear (+R1)
The Switchgear is air-insulated, metal-clad switchgear.
Each unit consists of two power compartments (cable and busbar compart-ments) and one auxiliary circuits
compart-ment, where all the instruments and cabling are housed.
All the units are accessible from the front.

2.3.3. STATION SERVICE EQUIPMENT

AC Station Service Switchboard (+RH1)
AC station service switchboard shall be air insulated, metal enclosed and shall be used for indoor installation.
Cable entry shall be made from the bottom part of the switchboard.
There shall be one lead one from station service transformer. The switchboard shall be equipped with protected
outlets for 380/220 V, 60 Hz power supply distribution. Electrical quantities shall be measured at incoming feeder
by digital multimeter. It shall be located on the door as well as other control and signal instruments.

DC Station Service Switchboard incl. battery pack (+RU1)
DC station service switchboard shall be air insulated, metal enclosed and shall be used for indoor installation.

There shall be one incoming lead from AC station service switchboard. The switchboard shall be equipped with
protected outlets for 24 V DC, PELV power supply distribution. Control and signal instruments shall be located on
the door.
Commonly the power supply of 24 V DC shall be provided by AC/DC convertor. In case of emergency the power
supply shall be fed from batteries.

2.3.4. UNIT AUTOMATION (+DT1, +DT2)

The unit automation shall be housed in control cabinet. The cabinet shall be metal enclosed and shall be used for
indoor installation. Cable entry shall be made from the bottom part of the cabinet. Control and signal instruments
shall be located on the door.
The cabinet shall be equipped with instrumentation (described hereinafter) for reliable operation of the T-G unit
and other, namely:

Main concept of control system is to ensure reliable operation with regards to optimal process automation of TG
Unit and other equipment such as station service equipment, switchgear step up transformer, level

measurements, etc. The control system shall provide particularly control sequences of operation, data exchange,
diagnostics and operator friendly control.
Emergency shutdown system shall be implemented through hardwired logic.
A part of the control system shall be digital turbine governor, which ensure optimal control of turbine wicket gate.
The main functions of the governor are the following:
unit start-up and shut down
synchronizing or desynchronizing procedure
turbine operation according to regulating type

Control system as well as digital turbine governor shall be implemented in AC 500 controller produced by ABB.
The PLC shall communicate with SCADA equipment over Ethernet. Serial link shall be provided to communicate
with other intelligent devices (digital protective relays, touch screen, intelligent transducers, etc.). The PLC shall
consist of the following:
CPU with sufficient operating memory and inbuilt communication ports (Ethernet, serial link)
DI module with high refresh rate (for speed metering)
DI/DO modules, 24 V DC
AI modules, PT100, 4 20 mA
AO module, 4 20 mA, 10 V

Electrical Protections

GENERATOR PROTECTION
Generator management shall be provided using a GE SR 489 relay with complete protection, metering, and
monitoring functions. The protection functions shall include:

Monitoring and metering functions shall include:
RMS current, negative sequence current, voltage, three phase power, temperature (via the 12
RTDs), and four analog inputs
four analog output channels which can be configured to any measured parameter
an event record which shall maintain a record of the last 40 events
The current and voltage inputs shall be sampled 12 times a cycle. The relay shall store these
waveforms into a user definable buffer (up to 64 cycles long) in the event of a trip.

ROTOR EARTH FAULT RELAY
Rotor earth fault relay shall cover function 64F.

Generator Synchronization Unit
Generator synchronization shall be performed by automatic synchroniser. The place for paralleling shall be at 6.6
kV circuit breaker (generator feeder). Synchronoscope and pushbuttons (LESS/MORE voltage and frequency) shall
be used for manual synchronization. All process shall be check by synchro-check relay.

Motor Control Center
Motor control center shall protect and operate every units drives, pumps and fans.

2.3.5. SUPERIOR AUTOMATION (+DE1)

The automation shall be housed in Superior control cabinet. The cabinet shall be metal enclosed and shall be used
for indoor installation. Cable entry shall be made from the bottom part of the cabinet. Control and signal
instruments shall be located on the door.

The cabinet shall be equipped with instrumentation (described hereinafter) for reliable operation of the power
plant, namely:

Superior Control System
Main concept of control system is to ensure reliable operation with regards to optimal process automation of
power plant equipment such as station service equipment, switchgear, step up transformer, level measurements,
etc. The control system shall provide particularly control sequences of operation, data exchange, diagnostics and
operator friendly control.
Emergency shutdown system shall be implemented through hardwired logic.
Control system shall be implemented in AC 500 controller produced by ABB. The PLC shall communicate with
SCADA equipment over Ethernet. Serial link shall be provided to communicate with other intelligent devices
(digital protective relays, touch screen, intelligent transducers, etc.). The PLC shall consist of the following:

TRANSFORMER PROTECTION
SR 745 transformer manager relay shall provide complete protection and management for small, medium, and
large power transformers. The relay shall provide options for two or three restraint windings. It shall be equipped
with the following protection functions:
Three phase differential current functions (87) with dual slope percentage differential restraint
and harmonic restraint
Unrestrained differential overcurrent (87/50)
Optional Restricted Ground fault protection (87R)
Two instantaneous overcurrent elements per winding for phase (50P), calculated neutral
(50N), and ground current (50G)
One time overcurrent element per winding for phase (51P), calculated neutral (51N), and
ground current (51G)
One instantaneous negative sequence overcurrent element per winding (50_2)
One time delay negative sequence overcurrent element per winding (51_2)
Two underfrequency elements (81U), and four rate-of-change of frequency elements (81R) for
load shedding
