Finally! A new issue of Iniciativa Colectiva after a long and restful break.
I had been immersed in a lot of personal things that led me away from the
magazine, but it was never my intention to leave it forever.
Many people approached me and asked me what happened with it and
sincerely, I just had to have a break from so much work and take some
personal time for myself.
I publish this magazine out of the love I have for art and design and so this is
why it's back again and believe me, if it weren't for the passion I have for it, it
could have gone into oblivion. But fear not! Iniciativa Colectiva is here to stay
and as long as I can produce it, I will be bringing you the best of the best in
the Visual Communications Field.
Thank you for following. It is for you that this is made. With Love.
To Life and Love.

1. What type of medium do you work with and
explain how you use it? (Paint, design, pho-
tography, collage)
The majority of my personal work is done by
screenprinting. I use a lot of overlapping of col-
ors to get as much out of each screen as possi-
ble. I work with acrylic a lot as well but because
of the graphic nature of my pieces they can be-
come tedious. Screenprinting allows me to get
clean lines and big at shapes of color without
having to fuss over it.
2. What was your main interest in produc-
ing this artwork, or is there a statement you
wanted to convey?
Nature seems to be a reoccurring theme in my
work. This started when I was in school and
felt more detached from the outdoors than I
had ever been in my life.Everything was seen
through a window and even then it usually had
a sprinkler system. Very recently though, I have
been taking more from past experiences which
has been kind of refreshing.
3. Tell us about your creative process, do you
have any rituals, routines you follow? How
does your artwork come together? (Do you
use found objects, image banks, etc)
Everything starts out as multiple thumbnail
sketches of an idea. The idea either being my
own or from a client. After settling on a basic
design it becomes almost like a puzzle. I spend
the majority of the time at this stage, working
out scale, texture, balance etc. I pretty much
know what a piece is going to look like before I
even put any paint or ink down.
4. How did you get started with your artistic
career?
I was lucky enough to be hired right out of
school for a couple illustration jobs which
opened up a lot of doors for me.
5. What would you say is one of your greatest
accomplishments?
I think the thing I am most proud of is the fact
that I am able to create for a living. That might
not sound like a big deal but I feel very fortu-
nate to make a career out of being an artist.
6. Where does your inspiration come from?
Or is there any particular movement, artwork
or artist you nd yourself inuenced by?
My inspiration comes from everywhere. Every-
day life. As far as my style goes it has been a
bit of creative progression that is hard for me to
nail down to a particular source. Some people
that I admire and are probably inuenced by
in some way are David Weidman, the Stenberg
brothers, Charley Harper and Geof Mcfettridge
to name a few.
7. How do you see your artwork evolving from
now? I am hoping to do some larger pieces in
the near future. I just need more space in order
to make them. As far as content goes i am not
sure. I try to let change happen organically and
not force it.
Thanks,
Andrew Holder

1. What type of medium do you work with and
explain how you use it? (Paint, design, pho-
tography, collage)
.I work with photography - mainly in the eld
of architecture. I portray desolate cityscapes
empty of humans and create a world that is very
clinical and often eerie and otherworldly.
2. What was your main interest in produc-
ing this artwork, or is there a statement you
wanted to convey?
In all my work I try to create the feeling of lone-
liness or solitude. A very strong feeling. And I
try to isolate the building which is in the picture
by almost never picturing people. That contem-
plates the building even more.
3. Tell us about your creative process, do you
have any rituals, routines you follow? How
does your artwork come together? (Do you
use found objects, image banks, etc)
I use a very strict linear grid (in my mind)
which I use as a guideline to nd new angles
when photographing architecture. I often use
music as an inspiration too - not many know
people know this but listening to artists such as
Sigur Rs, Helios, Unkle, M83 and many more
has been a huge source of inspiration to many
of my series.
4. How did you get started with your artistic
career? I started making professional photog-
raphy in 2007 - creating my Behance.net prole
in 2007 really got my name out among people
and has helped me build my reputation all over
the world as a skilled photographer.
5. What would you say is one of your greatest
accomplishments?
That's a hard one. I think being featured at al-
most every creative blog in the world and being
featured in numerous magazines is something
that I think are huge accomplishments. And I
get surprised every day what my talent is giv-
ing me fan mail, making interviews and getting
new exiting assignments from clients all over
the world. And getting out to the public - giving
them hauntingly beautiful imagery, and mak-
ing them "feel" my images.
6. Where does your inspiration come from?
Or is there any particular movement, artwork
or artist you nd yourself inuenced by?
I get my inspiration from a lot of places - music,
paintings, photography, literature - the world
that surrounds me.
7. How do you see your artwork evolving from
now?
I think that the future will bring me to new exit-
ing places which will help me create even more
absorbing imagery for everyone to enjoy.
