Haiti Haiti Haiti Haiti

An expansion to the board game, Puerto Rico. Haiti introduces two new roles, and the concept of dead
colonists and zombies.
Setup
You will need to print, cut, and attach to cardstock the new Haiti roles, buildings, and swamps. The
roles are placed with the other roles. Remove the Prospector roles when playing Haiti. The new
buildings replace the following original buildings. Guard Shack replaces the Hacienda. Mausoleum
replaces the Hospice. The Crossroads is a new large building that replaces the Fortress. Ideally, in a
game of Haiti, the Black Market should be used instead of the Construction Hut. The Swamps should be
shuffled into a stack with the Quarries. Any time a player may choose a Quarry, either through the
Settler role or by using a Construction Hut, they get whatever is at the top of the Quarry stack.
Use the normal player mats, but instead of San Juan, you will place colonists in your Graveyard.
Colonists placed there are dead and may not be removed from the Graveyard except as specified in the
Zombie Master role. Any time the game would normally direct you to place colonists in San Juan, place
them in the Graveyard instead. Use the area on your board marked as San Jan for your Graveyard.
You will need markers for the zombies. I suggest the plastic zombies you get in the game of the same
name.
If playing Haiti with the standard Puerto Rico expansion, you may either choose the Haiti buildings like
you would the expansion, or you may enforce the Haiti buildings and choose the others as you would
with the expansion. If the Fortress is used, then dead colonists in your Graveyard do count toward the
Fortress VP bonus, but zombies do not.
New Roles

The player who chooses the Revolutionary may choose to either force one player to
move three Colonists (of his/her choice) to his/her Graveyard or force all players,
including himself, to move one Colonist (of his/her choice) to the Graveyard.
Colonists may be moved to the Graveyard from any occupied Building, Plantation,
Quarry, or Swamp.
The Governor must move an additional colonist to the Graveyard whether or not
the Governor was specifically targeted by the Revolutionary.
Players who have fewer colonists available than required must place all their
available colonists in the Graveyard.

When the Zombie Master role is chosen, all players may remove one Colonist from
their Graveyard and add a zombie token to any unoccupied Building, Plantation,
Quarry, or Swamp space. Zombies count as Colonists in all ways, except that
effects that target Colonists, such as the Black Market or the Revolutionary, do not
target zombies.
The Zombie Master may remove all the dead Colonists from his or her Graveyard
to create zombies. If a player doesnt have enough free spaces for his or her
zombies, the remaining dead Colonists remain in the Graveyard.
New Buildings

Players with a manned Guard Shack move two fewer colonists to the
Graveyard during the revolutionary phase. Players cannot move fewer than
zero colonists to the Graveyard in this manner. If you choose to move the
colonist at the Guard Shack to the Graveyard, the Guard Shack is
immediately considered unmanned and you no longer get its benefit and must
move the requisite Colonists to the Graveyard.

Players with a manned Mausoleum may add an additional zombie to an
unoccupied space on their board after moving zombies from their Graveyard
during the zombie master phase. The extra zombie is taken from the pool, not
from the players Graveyard. If, after moving zombies from the Graveyard,
all the players spaces are full, the Mausoleum provides no added benefit.
For every zombie added in that way, remove from the game one of the
colonists from the pool that would have been put on the boat.

The player with a manned Crossroads gains 1 Victory Point for every 2
zombies he or she controls at the end of the game.

New Tiles

Players with a manned Swamp may add an additional zombie to an unoccupied
space on their board at the end of the Craftsman phase. The extra zombie is taken
from the pool, not from the players Graveyard. If, at the end of the Craftsman
phase, all the players spaces are full, the Swamp provides no added benefit. For
every zombie added in that way, remove from the game one of the colonists from
the pool that would have been put on the boat.
