Threat from Internal Competition:

BookMyShow currently competes with KyaZoonga and Ajay Devgans Ticketplease.com in the online
movie ticketing segment and with Zomato, Ayojak and Yatras BuzzInTown in event ticketing
segment.
It faced threat in the cash rich Southern movie Industry from Ticketgreen, it acquired the Chennai-
based ticketing portal Ticketgreen in 2013 gaining access to over 100 regional cinemas in the
southern part of the country and strengthen its footprint in that geography
Kyazoonga is the main rival to BookMyShows dominance with initiatives like iTicket, i.e. create
ticketing for any event and promote events etc gaining huge popularity with the masses. The level of
customization available with KyaZoonga on one hand may confuse the average user but on the other
hand makes it much more flexible than BookMyShow.
Apart from online competitors it faced competition from Multiplex chains who managed their own
ticketing on BookMyShow system, to end this and consolidate all ticketing under one umbrella In
mid-July, Bookmyshow.com signed a five-year deal worth Rs.1,000 crore with PVR Ltd to sell the
latters tickets online (BookMyShow was previously managing PVRs ticketing system but was not
selling its tickets on the BookMyShow site). The deal adds 89 PVR cinemas (including Cinemax India
Ltd, which the company acquired in January) with over 380 screens to BookMyShows existing tie-up
with over 1,500 screens.

Threat from New Entrants:
Difficult to Enter:
Theres no clear # 2 to BookMyShows ticketing business, BookMyShow took the ticketing business
by storm, with its kiosks, tie-ups, portals apps and event manpower. So in an industry where margins
are low a huge investment is required to directly compete with BookMyShow with a risk of less than
favourable revenues has kept most competitors from entering the market.
Threat from New Entrants with technological advantage:
With the advent of technology the entry barrier costs are getting reduced by the day and has led to
the rise of a multitude of competitors mostly ineffective due to the attempt of replication of
BookMyShow model and not going for a completely new model for ticket delivery and event
ticketing.
With the advent of smartphones, Wearable computing, NFC, universal payment systems etc any
competitor can use existing hardware to provide real-time ticketing and event solutions to
customers and create a place in the Indian ticketing sphere, as is with any IT based business with
new technology comes cheaper and better solutions to existing platforms. For example Samsung and
visa implemented complete booking service for London Olympics including bus, London
underground metro, shopping, hotel reservations and of course movie theatres.
