Executive Director Position

Description
The Executive Director is the key management leader of Valley
Churches United Missions. The Executive Director is responsible for
overseeing the administration, programs, nancial and strategic
plans of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising,
public appearance, marketing, and community outreach. This
position also requires experience working in the non- prot arena
maintaining excellent communication with civic leaders (state, local
government and community), local churches, schools and the
media. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
General Responsibilities
Board Governance: Works with Board in order fulll VCUMs
objectives and mission statement, is responsible for:
- Leading VCUM in a manner that supports and guides the
organizations mission as dened by the Mission Statement and the
Board of Directors.
- Communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in
a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the
Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufcient
to ensure nancial health of the organization, is responsible for:
- The scal integrity of VCUM, to include submission to the
Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly nancial
statements, which accurately reect the nancial condition of the
organization.
Qualifications
A bachelors degree.
Transparent and high integrity
leadership.
Five or more years senior nonprot
management experience.
Solid, hands-on, budget
management skills, including budget
preparation, analysis, decision-
making and reporting.
Strong organizational abilities
including planning, delegating,
program development and task
facilitation.
Strong skills in use of technology
with focus on Apple, Mac OS, use of
QuickbooksPro, Microsoft Ofce
Suite and FilemakerPro. Able to lead
and assist others in use of IT systems.
Ability to convey a vision of VCUMs
strategic future to staff, board,
volunteers and donors.
Knowledge of fundraising strategies
and donor relations unique to
nonprot sector.
Skills to collaborate with and
motivate board members and other
volunteers.
Strong written and oral
communication skills.
Ability to interface and engage
diverse volunteer and donor groups.
Demonstrated ability to oversee and
collaborate with staff.
Strong public speaking ability.

- The scal management that generally anticipates operating
within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource
utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive
nancial position.
-Fundraising and developing other resources necessary to
support VCUMs mission.
Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to
ensure that the mission is fullled through programs, strategic
planning and community outreach, is responsible for:
-Implementation of all distribution and fundraising
programs, including; Buck For Hunger, Easter, Thanksgiving and
Christmas programs, Backpacks and Holiday (Angel) Gala event.
- Strategic planning to ensure that VCUM can successfully
fulll its Mission on an annual basis and into the future.
-The enhancement of VCUMs image by being active and
visible in the community, by working closely with other
professional, civic and private organizations and keeping abreast
of current and emerging technologies to enable up-to-date
operations and programs.
Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate
resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are
appropriate, is responsible for:
- Effective administration of VCUMs operations.
- Overseeing on-going maintenance of the volunteer staff to
ensure that projects are always staffed appropriately and that
volunteers are encouraged and
motivated.
- Motivation and inspiration of current staff and, in
conjunction with the board of directors, for the hiring and retention
of competent, qualied staff if/as needed.
- Signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made
and entered into and on behalf of the organization.

Job Responsibilities
Planning and operation of annual
budget.
Establishing employment and
administrative policies and
procedures for all functions/
operations.
Serving as VCUMs primary
spokesperson to constituents, media
and the general public.
Attend all major community events to
maintain public visibility and to
promote our cause.
Establish and maintain relationships
with donors and various organziations
throughout the community, and utilize
those relationships to strategically
enhance VCUMs mission.
Report to and work closely with the
Board of Directors to seek their
involvement in policy decisions,
fundraising and to increase overall
visibility of the organzation
throughout the community.
Supervise and collaborate with staff.
Strategic planning and
implementation.
Use established protocol, manage
Disaster Response Center if needed
and engage/coordinate volunteers
and staff.
Oversee organization and committee
meetings
Oversee marketing and
communication efforts.
Review and approve contracts for
services

Other Information
-This position shall be the only occupation of the hired
individual so that a full time effort may be given. Any other work
must be rst approved by VCUMs Board of Directors.
- Maintain a valid California Drivers License and must pass a
background check.

Compensation
- Commensurate with experience, qualications and VCUMs
budget. Quality benets package includes health insurance, sick
time and vacation (PTO).
