CadimageWallFramesprovidesanefficientpathfromVirtualBuildingdatatothedesignanddocumentationofsteeland
timberwallframesforconstruction.
Theprocessisdividedintofivephases:Setup,PlacingFramesintomodelwalls,LargeScaleEditing,Customizationand
creatingDocumentation.
1.Setup...
TheSetupphaseincludesallthetasksrequiredtodefineaworkingsystemofframingthatfitsyourparticularrequirements.
Mostoftheadjustmentsyoumakeduringthisphasearesetandforget.Onceyouhavesuccessfullydefinedyourframing
system,itcanbeusedforfutureframingprojectswithoutanyfurtherwork.Youcanmaintain,improveandexpandthe
systematanytimewithoutaffectingexistingwallframes.
2.Placingframes...
OncetheSetupphaseiscomplete,youcanPlaceFramesintomodelwalls.Theplacedframesareautomaticallygenerated
togivea"firstcut",fullyautomatedsolution.Atthispoint,manyoftheframeswillnotbecorrectineverydetail,butprovided
yourpresetshavebeenwellconstructed,mostframesshouldbenotfarfromthefinalsolution.ThoughaquickUpdateof
theframeswillrectifymostissueswithjunctions&openingsthatmightoccur.
3.Largescaleediting...
Onceframeshavebeenplaced,youcanbeginworkingwithansemiautomatedsolution.Duringthisphaseyoucanmake
largescale,parametricadjustments,suchaschangingthetypeofframingtoapplytotheskinsofthecompositewall
structures.Youcanalsomakeadjustmentsthatrelatetotheenvironmentofthewall.Forinstanceyoucanparametrically
adjusttheendconditionsthatgovernhowthelayersofframinginteractwheretwowallsintersect.Theaimofthisphaseis
toquicklygetascloseaspossibletothedesiredresult.Insomecasesnofurtheradjustmentswillberequired.
4.Finercontrol...
Havingplacedframesandmadeallnecessarylargescaleadjustments,youcanproceedtocreateDocumentation.This
stagestartsbyReferencingtheframes.Anelevatedviewofeachreferencedframeisthencreated,alongwithdimensions.
Atthisstageyouhaveindividualcontrolovereachmemberoftheelevatedframe.Youcanmove,edit,deleteandaddnew
memberstodesignacustomframe.
5.Documentation...
Onceyouaresatisfiedthateverymemberiscorrect,youcanproceedtoAssignlabelstoeachmember,andcompilea
cuttinglist.Finallyasetofviewsisgeneratedforeachwallframe,andtheviewsaremountedonalayoutforpublication.
Theprocessasawholeisdirectional(youmustcompletethesetupphasebeforenextplacingframesintomodelwallsand
finallycreatingdocumentation),butitisalsoflexibleinthatyoucanbacktrackatanystage.Ifyouhavecreatedacustom
frame,youcandeletethecustomcomponentsandregeneratetheautomaticframe.Thismaybenecessaryforinstanceifa
windowopeningsizeischangedlateintheproject.Howeveroptimumefficiencyisachievedviacontinuousprogressthrough
thephases.
