and can be easily reached by rail, road, and air. It is 180 k.m. from J aipur, 200 k.m. from Delhi & 35
k.m. from Bits Pilani.

Mumbai, Y.C.M.O.U, Garware Institute of career Studies, and few others.

social Activist, Ex-Member of Senate of Mumbai University having wide connections with
Academia, Industries.and has personally witnessed

which is very close to most famous institute - BITS Pilani.

and have got their highly intellect resources to guide our student as co-guides.

B) The university is planning to set up resesarch lab jointly with COSIA in various field like
solar energy, wind energy etc.

research proposal to synopsis and final dissertation and ensure students to complete best
research work, well within the time frame which will give fulfillment to the candidate and
making proud of his/has work.

Scholars.

1. Infrastructure
SALIENT FEATURES

The University campus is spread across 30 acres of land with approximately 2.5 Lakhs sq.ft
of built up area and having modern infrastructural facilities within the campus.

2. Faculty

The University has qualified and experienced faculties. Besides several experienced visiting
faculties are invited to give exposure to the students. At present, there are more than 2000 Research
Guides in various subjects and University is aiming to register more Guides for the benefit of
students in near future.

3. Library

A Central Library spanning over more than 6000 sq.ft area and having over 20,000 books
under different titles, number of journals, magazines and periodicals are provided for the students.
University is Member of various E Libraries where students can access various journals from their
home. SOUL - software is installed to acess library books.

The University is equipped with state-of-the-art various laboratory in a wi-fi campus.

The Lab are having State of Art, Latest computers, with LCD Projector, Scanner, and the

A modern sports complex providing facilities for both indoor and outdoor games, cricket ground,
volley-ball court, basket-ball court, foot-ball, hockey ground, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Carom,
Chess etc. A modern well-equipped gymnasium is developed with various equipments, Tread mill,
Ergo meter, Multistation Gym, Weighing Machine, Bench Press, Barbell, Dumbles, Rubber
mattresses etc.

Tabla, Harmonium, Flute, Guitar, Tanpura, Organ, Kango, J hange Dhaphli etc. & other musical
instruments are available.

RULES FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY [Ph.D.]

The J J TU University offers research programme in different subjects & in inter-disciplinary areas
leading to the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy. A candidate shall ordinarily work in a recognized
place of research including the University Departments and Research Institutes recognized by the
University under the supervision of a research guide recognized by the University. The rules
regarding eligibility, registration, supervision, submission and evaluation of thesis, viva voce and
defence of thesis shall be as follows:

The University has fully Equipped Photographic lab with 1) Dark - Room (2) Digital camera
with flesh, Degital Lights, Photo Elarger, Computer withy photoshop shoftware.

ELIGIBILITY

1. For admission to the Ph.D. programme in a subject in any faculty, applicants fulfilling the
following criteria shall be treated as eligible:

a1: Candidate having passed Post Graduate Degree Examinations with at least 55% marks
or having grade equivalent thereto awarded by the concerned University.

OR

The cases of persons having less than 55% marks at Post Graduate Degree Examinations
shall be referred to BASR for consideration.

The registration of such persons shall be confirmed on the recommendations of the BASR.

OR

a.2 A candidate who has obtained any Master's Degree with a minimum of 55% (50% for SC/
ST/Cat-I candidates and Physically challenged candidates) marks in aggregate or equivalent
grade is eligible to register for the Ph.D Programme.

a.3 The teachers employed in University /Affiliated Colleges before 31.03.1992 and are continuing
in service on a regular basis and sesirous of registering for the Ph.D. Programme shall be
permited for registration, if they have a minimum of 50% marks at the Master's Degree
course.

a.4 The candidate shall work for Ph.D. degree in a subject studied at the Master's Degree or
related subject under a recognized guide. However he/she may be permitted with the
approval of the concerned Board of Studies, to conduct research in a subject other than the
one chosen for the Master's Degree, provided it is of an interdisciplinary nature.

a.5 If the research topic is of interdisciplinary nature, the candidate with the consent of his guide
may opt for a co-guide, who shall also be the recognized guide of the University. However,
the main responsibility of supervising the research work shall vest with the guide and the
candidate shall finalize and submit the thesis through the guide.

b: Persons working in National laboratories-Institutes/ Government / Private organization
nominated / sponsored by the respective employer. These persons should be holding
rank of the Asstt. Director/ or above

OR

c: In professional faculties like Ayurved, Medicine, Law, Homeopathy etc. persons having
passed Graduate Degree and having 10 years professional experience.

2. The fellow members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and/or Institute of Cost and Works
Accountants shall be held eligible for registration for Ph.D. in the subject in the Board of Studies
in Accountancy and Actuarial Science in the Faculty of Commerce provided that they possess
a Bachelors Degree of any statutory University and have 10 years experience.

3. A Graduate in Engineering who has developed important new techniques [new for the country]
or designed and fabricated special instruments or apparatus which are deemed by competent
judges to be of valuable contribution to engineering may be permitted by the BASR in
Engineering on the recommendation of the appropriate Board or Boards of Studies to submit
the thesis for the Ph.D. Degree in that Faculty. Such a candidate must have at least 10 years
standing as a Bachelor of Engineering.

Above-mentioned rules will be also applicable to the foreign students who have obtained the
Masters Degree from the statutory Indian Universities/Recognised Foreign Universities.

4. Application for research in inter-disciplinary areas and from applicants belonging to a faculty or
subject other than the faculty or subject in which the research is proposed to be done and from
the international students [ those who have not obtained the degree from Indian Universities]
shall be considered on the basis of the proven ability and aptitude of the researcher for such kind
of research. Such proposal shall be examined by the Guide and the Head, Place of Research
before giving provisional admission. The admission will be confirmed after the BASR concerned
approves the topic.

5. Those who are above 60 years may be enrolled on the basis of Graduation degree.

6. Exceptional ability - Extra ordinary performance achievement National Award Winners in any
stream can also be considered for enrollment as Research Scholar.

7. Hon. Chancellor/Chairperson may waive the eligibility criteria of minimum 55% mark in Post
Graduate degree if the Candidate has exceptional abilities in research, vast industrial/educational
experience or having credit of more publications in referred journals etc.

STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR PURSUING Ph.D.
(Full Time two year course as per UGC Rule July, 2009)

1. Fill the form attach documents and photograph and submit the duly filled in form along with
registration fee of Rs. 1600/- in demand draft drawn in favour of J J T University payable at
Mumbai/J hunjhunu direct in the J J T Universitys office at J hunjhunu or at Universitys
headquarters Shri Rajasthani Seva Sangh, Andheri East, Mumbai 400 059.
2. Appear for Pre-Ph.D Entrance Test along with payment of minimum Rs. 24,000/- , or
Rs. 32,000/- or Rs. 48000/- by demand draft (annual term fees), refundable if
unsuccessful in the entrance test).
3. Prepare Research proposal of approx. 4-6 pages as indicated in the annexure A
4. Appear for interview after submitting Annexure A
5. After passing the interview, pay the balance term fees of 1
st
year, minimum if not paid.
6. Collect your Ph.D I Card indicating name, enrollment number & joining date, Guide will be
allotted to you by the University after passing the test & interview normally within two months.
7. In normal circumstances, the guide/topic will not be changed. However, in exceptional cases,
with justifiable reasons, the guide/topic can be changed on the written request of Research
Scholar. The Guide fees is included in fees paid by scholar. However, Engineering, Science,
Technical & Pharma students may have to pay additional guide fees up to Rs. 25,000/-.
8. The minimum two years period will be counted from the date of pre-Ph.D entrance Test,
successful interview, and paying the complete 1st year fees.
9. Engineering, Pharma Technical and Science students should manage lab related research
work either at their college or in a private lab at their own cost.
10. Prior approval of the Laboratory should be taken from University before starting the research
work. The lab should be fully equipped to carry out all experiments to pursue Research
programme.
11. Research scholar has to undergo one semester course work. One semester course work
consist of 200 teaching hours at university campus, which includes Classroom
learning and assignments. The course work can be completed in two phases. The first
course work which is of 100 hours includes Research Methodology, Computer
Application, Review of Literature, class Lectures, Presentation, Assignments, and group
discussion. The second course work of 100 hours which includes learning of software like
SPSS/Excel solver, Quantitative Techniques, Review of published Research work,
Assignment, Class Lectures, Presentation, group discussion and submission of
synopsis. Scholar is advised to finish both the course work as early as possible. Both the
course work should be completed preferably in one stretch ,so that scholar can proceed with
his/her Thesis work. The Course work details are as per annexure B.
12. Rs. 5000/- will be charged towards boarding and lodging at University campus for completing
the course work. To & From travelling and other incidental expenses has to be born by the
Research Scholar. Research Scholar has to make their own arrangement to visit University
with prior intimation.

The assignments like attending two national and two international seminars, presentations
of the paper, publication of Article in refereed journal etc. can be carried out by the Research
Scholar on his own under the guidance of supervisor allocated to him. Article should be
related topic and to be published singly and in a ISSN Number journal. The print of presentation
along with participation certificate should be submitted to the University.
13. The permanent registration of the scholar will be done only after clearing the exam held after
the successful completion of 1st and 2nd course work at the University, approval of Synopsis
(20-25 pages) by the DRC and payment of entire fees/total fees. Once this is done, the
scholar will be considered as a full-fledged research scholar and scholar's DRC will be
carried out and if DRC clears the research scholar, then permanent registration will be given.
This synopsis will be host in INFLIBNET (Shodhganothri) website of UGC with intimation to
UGC.
14. After successful completion of assignments, various presentations, attending seminar, scholar
is advised to complete his Thesis work and Scholar should submit summary of Thesis (20-
25 pages) within a maximum period of 18 months from the registration as the Ph.D program
is of two years. If it is not given within 18 months, it will be presumed that scholar is not
interested in completing in his/her Ph.D in two years. In that event additional fees of
Successive years has to be paid. The Registration is valid for a maximum period of seven
years. After submission of summary of Thesis, Thesis must be given within two months
complete in all respects. Scholar is advised to submit the Thesis as per the checklist provided
and he must submit prior to submission of Thesis the referred two research papers published
in approved journals having ISSN/BSSN numbers.
15. Research Schoolar has to pay the fees as per the fee structure (annexure C).
16. Research Scholar is expected to proceed further Research work once the synopsis is
approved and permanent registration is issued. University will make every effort to host the
Synopsis in the SHODHGANGOTHRI OF INFLIBNET but not hosting the synopsis/reflecting
in INFLIBNET for any reason should not be the reason for Research Scholar delaying the
Research work
17. If any Scholar has any grievance with any University authorities in the matter of Research
work delay of research work will not be considered on any oral confirmation or assurance
given by any one from University Authorities.
18. If there is any grievances pertaining to course work, approval of synopsis, issue of permanent
registration letter, submission of summary of thesis, the format of Thesis, Evaluation of Thesis,
conducting /delay of Viva, etc. Scholar must report to the Vice Chancellor/higher authorities
within 3 days of noticing such problems.
19. The Research Scholar shall publish two research paper in a referred journal either in ISSN
or ISBN referred by at least two referees in 5 point scale format before the submission of the
Thesis/monograph for adjudication and produce evidence for the same in form of Acceptance
letter along with reprint. Research Scholar must submit a certificate from the Editor of the
J ournal that the Article is referred and the result of the referred in the form attached as
annexure F be submitted.
The Articles written should be on related topic/subject of the research only and should be
singly authored by the scholar himself/herself.

Research Scholar is supposed to check his/her Thesis with plagiarism software and the
result came out should be attached.
20. Research Scholar should not make any attempt to lure any authorities of the University for
any favour. Even if there is any apprehension of this nature from any Scholar and any such
case comes to the notice of the authorities of University then University will take appropriate
disciplinary action as deemed fit including expulsion of the Scholar from University enrollment.
21. Six monthly progress report to be sent the University duly signed by the Guide stating in
detail the number of working days, books and journals referred to, previous work studied
etc.
22. Research scholar is expected to spend 600 hours by any mode during the tenure of Ph.D.
course with their Guide and a certificate to that effect be obtained and submitted to the
University before submission of the thesis.
23. The progress in Research work is to be demonstrated by attending national seminars,
presenting papers in the seminars, and six monthly report duly signed by the Guide at regular
intervals of six months.
24. The Ph.D. candidates shall publish two research papers in a refereed journal either in ISSN
or ISBN. Refereed by at least two referees in 5 point scale format before the submission of
the thesis/monograph for adjudication and produce evidence for the same in the form of
acceptance letter along with reprint.
25. Research scholar has to submit a summary of the Thesis of 20-25 pages at least six months
before submission of dissertation and if that is approved by the Examiner then he will be
allowed to work further on the final thesis approx 200-250 pages. The summary should be
submitted in 5 hard copies and two soft copy.
26. Before submission of the final thesis, Research scholar has to submit the verification certificate
of the last qualifying degree from the concerned university and obtain a migration certificate
from the previous university and submit it to J J TU.
27. Prior to submission of thesis, Research scholar shall make a presentation in the department
that may be open to all faculty members and Research Students for getting feedback and
comments which may be suitably incorporated in to the draft Thesis under the advice of
Supervisor.
28. The thesis produced by Ph.D. scholar shall be evaluated by at least two experts out of
which at least one shall be from outside the state. University may invite one examiner from
outside the country. If any deficiency is found in the thesis, the Research scholar will be
advised to modify the Thesis suitably and submit.
29. Final thesis should be hard- bound and printed as per the format laid down by the university.
Five set of hard copies and five soft copies of the thesis are to be submitted to the University.
30. On receipt of satisfactory evaluation report, the research scholar shall undergo Viva- voce
examination which shall be openly defended by Research scholar.
31. Following the successful completion of the evolution process, the Ph.D. degree will be awarded
within 3 to 4 months upon receipt of the recommendation from the committee. After awarded
the degree, the University shall submit the soft copy of the thesis within a period of 30 days

for hosting the same in INFLIBNET under intimation to UGC, accessible to all institutions/
Universities.
32. After the successful completion of the evaluation Ph.D. degree will be awarded. Along with
the Ph.D. degree, a provisional certificate will be issued certifying to the effect that the degree
has been awarded in accordance with the provisions and the UGC regulations.
33. Research scholar has to abide by the above conditions and comply with them falling which
she/ he shall be declared disqualified.
34. In no case the Research scholar should copy the earlier published thesis/Articles. In that
event, the thesis will become void at any stage and University shall take no responsibility
for the same.
35. The award of Ph.D. degree shall be on the related topic of the scholar.
36. If the UGC and/ or any other competent authority do not give any benefit monitory or otherwise
to Research scholar after taking Ph.D. for any reason whatsoever University shall not be
responsible.
37. All research papers published in the refereed journal, patent and thesis approved & Accepted
by the University will be the sole property of the University..
38. If at any time during the course, Ph.D. scholar wants to discontinue, then J J T University will
not issue any certificate regarding any course done during the tenure from the University
and no fee will be refunded.
39. Scholar is advised to submit Research Proposal, Synopsis, Summary of Thesis and
Thesis as per the format given in Ph.D guidelines. While submitting Synopsis, summary of
Thesis and Thesis in University, letter should be enclosed signed by the guide that it is in the
prescribed format.
40. No complaint will be entertained from the Research Scholar for submission of synopsis/
summary of the Thesis/Thesis in the university department. If the concerned co-ordinator
did not give permission for the submission then Research Scholar should contact the higher
authorities.

DRAFTING A GOOD RESEARCH REPORT (THESIS}

. 1. Take care that i) The title has a clear focus, ii) Problem is clearly
stated and suitably delimited, iii) Populati on is properly defined and
sampling is scientific, iv) It covers conceptual framework and review
of related literature, v) Facts are critically evaluated and objectivity is
strictly followed, vi) Finishing, Polishing and final touches are given
to make the report weighty, authoritative, convincing and attractive.

2. Language should be clear, lucid, concise, precise, correct, complete,
readable and effective.

Use simple words, familiar words, short sentences (not complicated
and long.MTinding) and less technical jargon.

3. Use proper typography, correct grammar, punctuations an-d spellings,
appropriate headings, sub- headings, foot notes etc.

4. Let the layout be attractive and uncluttered.

5. There should be logical flow and integrated progression of ideas.

6. Avoid irrelevant material, redundant repetition and contradiction.

7. Display good grasp of the subject.

8. Analysis and interpretation of data should be proper and valid and
duly supported by charts, tables, figures, diagrams etc.

9. Appropriate statistical tools/measures should be used.

10. Cover all issues/objectives and hypothesis evaluation/testing.

11. Findings should be appropriate.

12. Conclusions drawn should be sound and balanced.

13. Remedial measures/suggestions should be rational and
feasible/practical.

14. Recommendations should be valid.

15. Due care should be taken regarding technicalities of thesis writing.

16. Ensure correct proof reading and crisp editing.

17. The thesis is a scholarly document. It should make an original
contribution and offer stimulating ideas.

It should cover general importance of the research topic taken and its justification in present
era (2 3 pages)


- Literature Review:



It must cover the work done by other researchers in this field. It should include review of 40

50 research papers published in international and national research papers covering duration

2011 1990 (last 20 years from the year of registration). Every reference should be represented
by 3- 6 lines abstract list of that paper. In case of languages references of books can be
considered.
