Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the
hand of a warrior, so are the children of ones youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed, but shall speak
with their enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127:3-5
With all four of my children working in the ministry
with me at Crenshaw Christian Center, I can say with
assurance that children are indeed a reward. My wife,
Betty, and I have watched them grow into responsible
and caring adults who have a great love for God. They
didnt turn out this way on their own. It took some hard
work and discipline from myself and Betty. Raising
children is hard workespecially when they are very
small. We should approach raising children with the
same attitude that we do with workknowing that we
will get a payday. Our payday as parents comes in the
form of children who live for and love God.
Parenting is no easy job. It takes dedication,
perseverance, prayer and lots of faith. With that in mind,
we dedicated this issue to discussing how to raise godly
children. Children are important to God and they should
be just as important to us. They are our future church.
May this issue inspire you to be a better parent and
to recognize just how important your role as a parent
is in this day and age. Remember, you are helping
to shape precious lives into mighty believers. Lets
work on building a godly legacy.
If you are not
a Christian and
would like to
become one, pray
the following
prayer:
Dear God in Heaven,
Tank you for sending
your Son Jesus Christ
to destroy the power of
Satan over my life. I accept
Jesus now as my personal
Savior and Lord, and I choose
to turn away from the sins of
my past to a renewed life in
Jesus.
You said that if I would
confess with my mouth the
Lord Jesus and believe in my
heart that you raised Him
from the dead, that I would
be saved. I believe Jesus died
for my sins and that you
raised Him from the dead for
my beneft. Heavenly Father,
I thank you for the gif of
salvation and for accepting
me now as your child.
In Jesus name, Amen

he frst responsibility of the
Christian husband and wife in
the family situation is to teach
their children the Word of God.
And these words which I command
you today shall be in your heart. You shall
teach them diligently
to your children, and
shall talk to them when
you sit in your house,
when you walk by the
way, when you lie down,
and when you rise up
(Deuteronomy 6:6-7).
You see, thats
not talking about a
Sunday religion. Its
talking about a way of
life. Its your duty to
teach the Word when
youre sitting or walking
aroundwhen you go to bed and when
you get up. Tats continuously!
Te Bible doesnt say to teach the
children if they want to be taught. It just
says teach them.
I need to say one thing here. You
cant teach what you dont know. So as
a parent, its your responsibility to study
Gods Word.
Te same principle is taught in the
New Testament. And you, fathers, do not
provoke your children to wrath, but bring
them up in the training and admonition
of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
When the Bible says, admonition
of the Lord, it means to
admonish by the Word
of God. Teach them His
words! Its going to take
some timebut you
owe it to your children.
Now the reference
to fathers in that
verse also applies to
mothers, for in the sight
of God you and your
spouse are one fesh. So
dont go laying all the
responsibility on dad.
You just wait until your
father gets home! Tats no good.
Dont make dad out to be a frankestein
monster. Take care of the problem when
it happens.
Te second responsibility is to
train your children. Some folks think
teach and train mean the same thing,
but they dont. To teach means to
give information. When you train

somebody, you make them do it!
You can teach a child to wash
behind the ears, but youve got to
train him to do it. Youve got to
make him do it until it becomes a
natural thing to do.
Te Word says, Train up a child
in the way he should go, and when
he is old he will not depart from it
(Proverbs 22:6).
Well, a whole lot of folks have
departed. Now either Gods Word is a
lie or the people didnt train the kids.
Someone said, I disagree with
that. You shouldnt make a child go to
church. You shouldnt make a child
read the Bible.
Youd better! If you dont, he may
never do it.
See, you dont have trouble with
making him brush his teeth or comb his
hair or wash behind his ears. But when
it comes to his eternal destiny, you say,
Well, I think he should make that
decision on his own.
Football coaches dont ask the
players if they would like to exercise.
Tey make them do it because its part
of getting ready for action. Te same is
true for parents. We need to train our
children in preparation for the battle of
life.
Its even more important regarding
spiritual matters. Te devil couldnt care
less if your child brushes his teeth. But
hes going to do his best to steal every
word your child reads from the Bible.
Training is the only way to success.
My daughter Angela is now
president of Crenshaw Christian
Center. Shes in that position today
because she was trained rightwe
walked circumspectly before her as
parents. Tere was a time when she
resisted going to church, but faith
comes by hearing. Because she heard
the Word day in and day out, she
became committed to it. Tats how it
works.
Tird, parents must provide for
their childrenFor the children ought
not to lay up for the parents, but the
parents for the children (2 Corinthians
12:14).
In the strictest sense, Paul was
not talking about physical parents,
but the principle applies. You have
a responsibility to provide for your
children to the best of your ability. And
that doesnt just mean their material
needs. Some folks are working fve jobs
just to provide things when they need
to stay home and provide training in the
Word, afection and security.
Fourth, you need to love your
children. Titus 2:4 says, Tat they
admonish the young women to love their
husbands, to love their children.
Again, this verse applies to dads as
well as moms. You are one fesh in the
sight of God.
In so many homes there is no love
manifested. Learn to touch, to speak
kind words, to express your love. Teres
nothing weird about a father hugging
his son. Let your children know you
care.
And ffh, you must learn to

control your children. First Timothy
3:4 says, One who rules his own
house well, having his children
in submission with all reverence.
Tat doesnt mean to be a tyrant.
It doesnt mean you have to be an
ogre. It simply means that you have
control over your children.
Let me share just four words:
correct, punish, discipline and
chasten. Now in the Bible those four
words mean basically the same thing.
According to Proverbs 13:24, He
who spares his rod hates his son, but
he who loves him
disciplines him
promptly. It says we
should discipline
him promptly. Dont
let bad habits get
ingrained.
Proverbs 19:18
says, Chasten thy son
while there is hope,
and let not thy soul
spare for his crying.
Here, chasten means
to discipline. And
again, we are told to
do it early while there is still hope for
the childs future.
Proverbs 22:15 says, Foolishness is
bound up in the heart of a child; the rod
of correction will drive it far from him.
Te word correction means discipline.
So you see, they are interchangeable.
And in Proverbs 23:13 we read, Do
not withhold correction from a child, for
if you beat him with a rod, he will not
die.
When you spank a child in love,
he will not die. Im not talking about
fogging and mutilation. Im talking
about controlled discipline. And always
tell your child why youre spanking him.
Now lets look briefy at the childs
responsibility to the parent.
Children, obey your parents in
the Lord, for this is right. Honor your
father and mother, which is the frst
commandment with promise: that is may
be well with you and you may live long
on the earth (Ephesians 6:1-3).
Now remember, the Bible
was written for the family of God
not sinners. Its difcult to honor
dishonorable parents.
But if you are Christians, your
children owe you
their respect. So
if you want to
be honored, live
honorably before
your children. Te
same truth is set
forth in Colossians
3:20. Children, obey
your parents in all
things, for this is well
pleasing to the Lord.
Tis advice
is to children of
Christian parents. I
know mothers who are teaching their
daughters to be prostitutes and fathers
who are teaching their children to steal
and peddle drugs. What a tragedy!
Parents, if youre not walking in the
light of Gods love your children do not
owe you their obedience. But if youre a
doer of the Word, you can demand their
unquestioning respect and obedience.
Teach your childrentrain

control themset an example for
themand youll never fail as a parent.

In this classic, timeless teaching series, Apostle Frederick
K. C. Price proves through the scriptures that marriage
is a divine ordinance, blessed and established by God,
embodied in the union of a man and woman. He gives
instruction from the Word of God on how a husband and
wife are to love one another, how the children are to regard
their parents and how to raise children in the way that they
should go. When the Christian applies these principles to his
or her life, their marriage union truly becomes one of holy
matrimony, the children being in subjection with all gravity.
He also speaks to different problem areas he has come
across through years of ministry and offers practical advice
on how to resolve them.

n the beginning God assigned
differing roles to man and to
woman. Genesis 2:15 lets us
know that man was created to
work and keep the garden while the
woman was designed to help him in
his tasks. They each had two very
distinct and differing roles. However,
they were both created in Gods image.
The pattern of biblical roles within
marriage continued throughout the Old
Testament. In the New Testament the
roles did not change, but were given a
special emphasis that male and female
were still equal in the eyes of God. Men
and woman were created with distinct
abilities to fulfll these biblical roles.
In the New Testament, the role of
the husband and wife are symbolic of
Christ and His church. Christian men
are to lovingly lay down their lives for
their wives (Ephesians 5:25). Husbands
are not to demand obedience, but with
humility and love they are to honor
their wives (1 Peter 3:7). It is clear that
biblical women are not seen as second-
class citizens, but equal with their
husbands.
A good Christian family is one
which lines up with biblical principles
and one in which each member
understands and fulflls his or her
God-given role. The family is not an
institution designed by man, it was
created by God, and man has been
given the responsibility of stewardship
over it. One of the primary principles
of the family unit is that it involves a
commitment ordained by God for the
lifetime of the members.
God created the marriage
relationship to be a blessing to everyone
involved, yet many families today are
clearly troubled. Problems often exists
between everyonehusband and wife,
between parents and children, or among
brothers and sisters. Selfsh ungodly
persons everywhere enter into all kinds
of relationships with a desire of serving

Your God-given
Role in Marriage

their own selves and gratifying their
own fesh without knowing or caring
what is required of them.
We have to look at the scriptures
to receive our instructions. 1 Peter 3:7
says, Husbands, likewise, dwell with
them with understanding, given honor
to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and
as being heirs together of the grace
of life, that your prayers may not be
hindered. Husbands must live with
their wives in an understanding manner
because God has created women
different from manespecially in how
thoughts are processed. If he does not
treat his wife properly, his prayers to
God will be blocked, God expects
husbands to love their wives; and if
they do not, then God will not answer
their prayers.
We know and understand that
men and women are different, but
its not just the physical traits. God
designed differences to go further than
external features. Men and women
are different down to each and every
cell of their bodies, down to the 23
chromosomes to be exact. Male and
female differ physically, emotionally,
psychologically, mentally, and
relationally.
If we consider the King James
version of the Bible, the frst word in
verse 7 of 1 Peter 3: says likewise.
This word likewise, invokes the
preceding directives upon husbands
as well, and they are to dwell with
understanding, giving honor to their
spouses indicating a certain reciprocity
between the sexes in marriage. The
husband is to consider the lesser
physical strength and vulnerability
of his wife. Love is the great reason
and comfort of marriage. This love is
not merely romantic, but genuine in
constant affection and care for each
other, fervently with a pure heart. The
marriage vow includes the phrase
for better or for worse and married
persons ought to consider their own
spouses the best in the world for them.
As a pastor, the most commonly
reported relationship problem by far
is communication. This may be one of
the broadest and most diffcult terms
to defne with regard to marriage. It
tends to have many different meanings
to each of us. It literally means not
understanding the other persons point
of view. This is often more of refusing
to allow the others view.
In many marriages the interest
seems to lie primarily in getting ones
own point of view heard and understood
rather than having an interest in hearing
and understanding the others. If people
cared to listen to the other persons with
as much interest as he or she wished the
other would listen to them, both would
end up receiving exactly what they are
looking for. -EIF

Male and female differ

By Min. Mark Peay
rowing up as the youngest in a
family of ten kids in Baltimore,
Md., we all had our own schedules,
hobbies and routines. But no
matter what any of us were involved in, we
were raised to check in with each other
on a regular basis. Most of the happiest and
closest families that I have come in contact
with over the years function from a similar
relational template.
Social media has made it easy to
do this on an even greater (although not
quite as personal) level. From Facebook
to Instagram, Foursquare to Twitter,
checking in has become quite the modern-
day vernacular. How many times have
you arrived at a restaurant, movie theater
or social event and immediately whipped
out your mobile device to check in? Social
media has made the check-in process
easy by automatically locating where you
are. You usually dont even have to put in
the full address because your device will
use GPS (Global Positioning System) to
automatically pinpoint your geographic
location.
Worship to God is the highest form
of checking in. It is our way of uploading
our love, our praise and our thanksgiving to
God. It is then that He downloads His heart,
mind and ways into us. But this worship
check-in is not for Gods beneft as much as
it is for ours. You see, worship is heavens
form of GPS (God Positioning Saints). Its
purpose is so that we can know where we
are with Him. Lets look at Genesis 3:
Now the serpent was more cunning
than any beast of the feld which the LORD
God had made. And he said to the woman,
Has God indeed said, You shall not eat of
every tree of the garden?
2
And the woman said to the serpent,
We may eat the fruit of the trees of the
garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which
is in the midst of the garden, God has said,
You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it,
lest you die.
4
Then the serpent said to the woman,
You will not surely die. 5 For God knows
that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be
opened, and you will be like God, knowing
good and evil.
6
So when the woman saw that the tree
was good for food, that it was pleasant to
the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one
wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also
gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7
Then the eyes of both of them were opened,
and they knew that they were naked; and
they sewed fg leaves together and made
themselves coverings.
8
And they heard the sound of the
LORD God walking in the garden in the
cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid
themselves from the presence of the LORD
God among the trees of the garden.
9
Then the LORD God called to Adam
and said to him, Where are you?
10
So he said, I heard Your voice in
the garden, and I was afraid because I was
naked; and I hid myself.
When God asked Adam Where are
you? He was not asking for his physical

G
geographic location. He was actually
asking Adam, Where are you WITH ME?
In our own lives, if we havent
checked in, we can fnd ourselves in
Adams conditionseparated from God
and feeling naked. What are the things that
cause us to lose our D.A.T.A. (Daily Access
To Abba) connection with God? It could be
the insurmountable workload at the job,
or the soccer mom duties that can be all-
encompassing. Or maybe its working in
the ministry. So much so that we fail to take
time to actually engage with our Creator.
It should never be named once among us
that we get so busy doing the work of the
ministry that we forget the God of the work.
We should be checking in with God through
worship and the Word constantly. Ephesians
5:18 tells us: And do not be drunk with
wine, in which is dissipation; but be flled
with the Spirit. The literal translation of
the latter portion of the verse is Be being
flled. We should be in constant, nonstop
flling, interaction with God throughout our
day.
Another way that we typically check-
in is at a hotel, or at the gate at the airport
terminal. This form of checking-in simply
says, Im here. Im present and Ive shown
up to claim my room or my seat on the
plane. Checking in with God is also our
way of saying Lord, Im available. Im
here and presenting myself to you; front and
center. The Apostle Paul told the church at
Rome, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by
the mercies of God, that you present your
bodies a living sacrifce, holy, acceptable
to God, which is your reasonable service.
(Romans 12:1)
To help you stay plugged, here are the
three Cs of checking in:
COME BOLDLY TO HIS THRONE!
(Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly
unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy, and fnd grace to help in time of need.)
If you have a relationship with Jesus Christ as
your Lord and Savior, you have a right to check-
in with boldness and reverence.
CALL UNTO GOD CONTINUALLY! :(2
Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but
follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with
them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.)
God loves the sound of your voice. When you
check-in, dont push the mute button. Call out
to Him in praise and in worship.
COMPASSION POSSESS IT! (Jude
1: 21-22 Keep yourselves in the love of God,
looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ
unto eternal life. And of some have compassion,
making a difference.) Its impossible to be in
the presence of God and NOT leave with the
fragrance of His compassion and His love on
you. People are hurting. Make a difference.
In closing, there used to be a
commercial that said: Orange juice is not
just for breakfast anymore. Checking in
is not just for Facebook anymore. Lets
check in and present our bodies to God; not
because its our duty, but because its our
desire. -EIF

Two thousand nine was a year
like no other. I even had a good friend
tell me that after telling my story to a
friend of his. She said, Wow, hes like
a modern day Job. Two thousand nine
brought the death of my marriage of 10
years), the death my job (15-plus years)
and fnally, the death of my mother. As
I was preparing for my moms funeral, I
had spent the night at my sisters home.
I read somewhere that 60 percent of
heart attack victims die in their sleep.
I remember waking up at about 4 a.m.
with a pain I had never felt before. All
I could hear was the small quiet voice
of the Holy Spirit who kept saying go
to the hospital. I immediately woke up
my nephew (who is going to school to
become a minister) and told him to take
me to the emergency room.
All the way to the hospital I kept
speaking the Word of God. Jesus said,
When you pray, say (Luke 11:2).
Once we got to the hospital, the nurses
looked me over and said my vitals were
fne and I could go in the waiting room.
I said, What? Hey, wait a minute,
somethings wrong! Could it be stress
from everything Im going through or
is it something else? After sitting for
about 45 minutes, they fnally called
me. The doctors did tests on me which
still showed no signs of illness. They
decided to put me on a more advanced
piece of equipment. Everyone started
running. I could see doctors and nurses
rushing. Evidently they saw a massive
heart attack. Thank God I had His Word
hidden in my heart. I started shouting
from the bottom of my heart, I will
live and not die. I told Satan he was
a liar. I spoke to the mountain and said
Be cast into the sea. I told my Father
God, Lord get me through this and I
will tell the world. I immediately went
into a deep sleep. (I was told later that
I died from a massive heart attack and
had to be shocked back to life.) Oh, I
felt like I was at home wherever I was.
It was the kind of sleep where you have
no worries at all. I saw blue all around
me and a long way off bright lights.
I heard my moms voice behind the
bright lights shout my name, Arthur.
My mom only called me Arthur
when its was of the utmost importance.
When my mom called me Arthur,
for some strange reason it had three
meanings to it. She only shouted it
once but I clearly got three messages
from it. The frst meaning was, What
are you doing here? The second, Im
okay, dont you worry, and third,
wake up. As I opened my eyes, all
I could see was doctors and nurses all
around me. I guess I must have gone
back to sleep because the next time I
woke up, I was in a hospital room. The
doctor came in and told me I was one
lucky fellow. I was at the right place
at the right time. He said that if I had
been anywhere else, I might not have
made it. My youngest sister recalls at

Living by the Word
I started following Apostle
Frederick Price when I was living in
Birmingham, Alabama in 1985. At
that time, I was going through a lot in
my life and listening to the teaching
of Apostle Price was an enlightening
illumination for me. Its something,
when you know the Word of God but
you dont do the Word of God. Its
almost as if you never really know the
Word when you dont practice it. But
while viewing the broadcast, hearing
what Apostle Price was teaching and
seeing the example of living the Word
of God that he was exhibiting in his
life, it made me take a double look at
myself. It encouraged me to take a
stand for the Word of God and not be
a hearer but a doer of the Word of God.
God Bless You, Brother Price.

Total Healing
Praying and thanking God for
healing. On a continual and daily basis,
I thank the Lord for my healing from
interstitial lung infection. This infection
drains all of the oxygen from your
lungs, rendering you almost immobile
due to the lack of air entering the lung
sacs that eventually is processed into
the blood stream. The doctors who
attended me during my illness were
not defnite in their diagnosis as to the
origin of the disease; however, after
two visits they have recognized my
changed condition. Praise the Lord, its
true: by His stripes we were healed of
all disease and illness.

Gift from Above
I am a pastor and son of a pastor.
I have always wanted a Rolex watch
but they were too expensive for me. So
I listened to Dr. Fred Prices sermons
on faith. I told God that I receive it
the moment I asked for it. One day
someone gave me their Rolex watch.
It was a miracle. So thank you Fred
Price for your many teachings and God
bless you.

An oath is defned as making a promise or verbal commitment to
something or someone. Many Christians who make oaths to Greek
fraternities and sororities are unaware of the spiritual ties that they
bind themselves with.
God said you shall have no other gods before Him. Remember, Jesus called Satan the ruler
of this world and because of this truth he has blinded the minds of the people. Its time to
take the blinders off!
What god are you pledging your allegiance to? Everything that was pagan, wicked, awful
and ugly to God is now a fad. In this special teaching, Pastor Frederick K. Price tackles
idolatry and the spiritual rituals administered by Greek society and much more.

A Lesson
From the
Life of
Martha
If you have ever read this account of
the sisters Mary and Martha you may have
thought as I did that Jesus was a bit hard on
Martha. Afer all, she was serving Him and
the least He could have done was rally some
help for her from Mary, right? And why
was Mary let of the hook? I can defnitely
identify with Martha; we all have a to-do
list that never seems to go away. Once one
task is complete, it seems that two others
show up in its place. But I now believe that
Marthas busyness was only a symptom
of a deeper issue. What Jesus was really
concerned about was her relationship status
with Him and with her sister, Mary.
From the text, we can identify:
Martha invited Jesus into her house,
which implies that she initiated the
invitation; no one forced or coerced her
to do so. Martha received and welcomed
Him. Marys position was already
establishedat Jesus feet.
Martha was overly occupied with much
serving. She was serving Christ Himself
and the Amplifed Bible says that she
was doing too much. Some may say that
theres no such thing as over serving
in the Body of Christ. But that is not
biblical, especially when that service is
coming from the wrong place.
Martha recognized that she had taken
on too great a task and was feeling
overwhelmed. She went to Jesus and
asked Him to confront her sister and
run interference for her. Yet, the text
never states that she went directly to
Mary herself. Martha attempted to pull
Jesus into this warped triangulated issue
while she made her sister, Mary, the
villain. Martha blamed her sister for her

Now while they were on their way, it occurred that Jesus entered a certain village,
and a woman named Martha received and welcomed Him into her house. And she had
a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lords feet and was listening to His
teaching. But Martha [overly occupied and too busy] was distracted with much serving;
and she came up to Him and said, Lord, is it nothing to You that my sister has left me to
serve alone? Tell her then to help me [to lend a hand and do her part along with me]!
But the Lord replied to her by saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled
about many things; There is need of only one or but a few things. Mary has chosen
the good portion [that which is to her advantage], which shall not be
taken away from her. (Luke 10:38-42, Amplifed Bible)
own lack of personal limit-setting. To
Marthas surprise, Jesus didnt jump on
her side and point the fnger at Mary,
but instead became the perfect truth-
refecting mirror and addressed her,
saying, Martha, Martha, YOU ARE...
Martha went to Jesus wanting Him to
do something about Mary, and Jesus
redirected Martha right back to Martha,
where the root of the issue lay.
Im sure that the behavior Martha
displayed here was a pattern and
characteristic in her life. She was probably
always trying to do everything, taking on
too much and then blaming others in the
process for her own busyness. She had
served others to the neglect of her own
spiritual health. Martha was one of the few
humans alive during Christs short ministry
on the earth; she had the opportunity to see
and hear God with skin, and yet she missed
out on Jesus because of Christian service.
Her service was noble, and Im sure that
Jesus appreciated it. But He never intended
that she would do so to her own neglect. It
is also worth noting something extremely
importantJesus never stopped her. He let
Marthas free will run its course and when
she did come to Him, He identifed the
true issue. Martha didnt appropriate her
boundaries and make time or room next to
her sister at Jesus feet. And like the carnal
nature displayed in the garden, she blamed
the one who was closest to her instead of
looking in the mirror.
Even in our desire to serve God and
share Christ with others through various
kinds of Christian service, God treats us
like the adults that we are and expects us to
know when to withdraw for rest. We must
monitor our own limits or we will fall victim
to spiritual apathy, rifs in brotherly and
sisterly relationships, and just plain missing
out on Jesus. We blame others for things
that we willfully took on ourselves when all
along God expects us to take responsibility
for our own needs without unreasonably
expecting others to bear our load for us.
When we grow up in the things of God, we
become responsible citizens of His kingdom
who deal well in our relationships with our
brothers and sisters in Christ. -EIF

ods way of overcoming temptations,

matter what the temptation, trial, or
test might bewhether it is drugs,
alcohol, illicit sex, smoking, overeating,
pornography, lying, envy, strife, jealousy,
gossip, worry, fnancial need, sickness, or any
other negative thing that may come up in your
life. Whatever the need or problem is, it can
be overcome by Gods Word. The way we
overcome is by frst doing what James 4:7
tells us to do: Therefore submit to God. Resist
the devil and he will fee from you.
Satan is the one who brings the
temptations, trials, or tests, but he will not fee
if you do not submit to God frst. Submitting
to God means to submit to His Word. There is
a solution in the Bible for everything you face
in life, but you have to get into the Bible and
fnd out what your solution is. In Matthew
26:41, Jesus is speaking and He says, Watch
and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The
spirit indeed is willing, but the fesh is weak.
In other words, if you are praying and
living your life in line with the Word, you will
not enter into temptation. Obviously, a lot of
Christians are not watching and praying and
that is why so many believers are entering
into temptation. James 1:2-3 tells us that we
are to: count it all joy when you fall into

various trials, knowing that the testing of your
faith produces patience.
James didnt say that it was joy, but he
said to count it as joy; that means to act like
it is joy no matter what you are facing. Your
will is involved and you can act like it is joy or
you can go down to the level of how you feel.
If you do what the Bible says and count it all
joy, you will be able to stand against the wiles
of the devil, because First Corinthians 10:13
says, No temptation has overtaken you except
such as is common to man; but God is faithful,
who will not allow you to be tempted beyond
what you are able, but with the temptation will
also make the way of escape, that you may be
able to bear it.
This lets you know that there is no
temptation that has taken you that someone
else has not already gone through. But God is
faithful and will not allow you to be tempted
or tried above that you are able to handle, but
with the temptation, trial or test He has made
a way of escape. James 1:12 tells us, Blessed
is the man who endures temptation; for when
he has been approved, he will receive the
crown of life which the Lord has promised to
those who love Him.
So frst we have to submit to God and
resist the devil, and this is a lifelong battle. It
would be nice if we could just pray and all the
temptations, trials or tests would disappear,
but it doesnt work like that. In First
Corinthians 9:27 Paul says, But I discipline
my body and bring it into subjection, lest,
when I have preached to others, I myself
should be disqualifed.
Paul is saying that he disciplined his
body so that what he taught others, he was
sure to practice so he could not be found false.
We ought to follow Pauls example and learn
to discipline our bodies, because we will not
be able to live this life victoriously or be an
example of Jesus Christ to the world if we do
not lead a disciplined life. -EIF
Gods Word guarantees His people a
successful Christian life in every area.
Yet believers who do not add to their faith
virtue, moral excellence and goodness
may not only fail in personal relationships,
parenting and Christian living, but
eventually lapse into their old sins. The
scriptures exhort believers to live in such
a way that their life choices are made fail
proof by the adding of virtue, knowledge,
self-control, perseverance, and godliness,
pointing believers to a life of holiness.

The Future
of TV
By Jason Caston
The TV industry is ripe for
disruption and its holding on for dear
life. The traditional content producers
(studios) and the cable companies are
holding on to that old business model
till the last dollar is squeezed out of it.
Unfortunately for them, the market is
starting to dictate how things will play
out and, just as the music industry was
made to adapt, the television industry
will have the same fate.
Let me clarify what the word
adapt means it means television

viewing will go from analog delivery
to digital media, we will become more
immersed in social media connected
viewing along with second screens
and we will watch what we want to
watch, when we want to watch and
from any device on which we choose
to watch, no more cable bundles and
set showtimes.
The best examples of the future
of TV is Netfix.com, Hulu.com,
Apples iTunes and Amazon.coms
Video on Demand. We have the option
with these stations to watch whatever
we want to watch based on their
offerings. Ala Carte channels and not
bundles will become how we choose
our channels, which is vastly different
from our current cable company
offerings.
Likewise, as the Internet continues
to infltrate every aspect of our lives,
we fnd that we are able to connect
from more and more places with faster
broadband and mobile connections,
thus giving us the ability to consume
more media anytime, anyplace from
any Internet-enabled media device.
Currently, Internet television
devices such as the Roku, Google
Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Apple
TV or Xbox are just getting started in
changing our living-room experience.
But what if in the future the living
room TV device watches us, allows
us to connect with social media and
actually knows us better than any
Nielsen device. It will know our
watching habits, what our eyes do
during commercials, what we talk
about during shows, as well as our
demographics. This will be a gold mine
for advertisers and they will monetize
this information, which will in turn
motivate the content producers which
will motivate the cable companies.
That is the fnal piece in helping the
content-producing studios (and even
cable companies) in moving to this
future television experience because
now the fnancial benefts are realized.
Now how does the church get
involved? Well they can now get on
Internet TV-enabled devices such as
Roku or Amazon Fire and establish
channels so that when the public
continues this migration, they will be
used to consuming church media from
these devices.

man came upon some bricklayers
and asked one, What are you
building?
A wall, the bricklayer wearily
replied. Then the man asked a second
bricklayer, What are you building?
The bricklayer stood strong, pointed to
his growing wall of bricks, and announced
proudly, Im building a cathedral.
Its all in the perspective. And
perspective is important. As we raise our
children, we might well ask ourselves,
What am I building? Adding clarity to our
goals may give us a heavenly perspective.
Imagine building an army of God-
fearers! Through Gods Word, we teach our
children the reverential fear of God. To fear
God does not mean to be afraid of Him, or
to have a sense of dread or terror that results
from intimidation. To fear God means to
respect Him. An army of God-fearers
children who respect Godis an awesome
goal. And we are building such an army, one
family at a time. Respect or reverence for
God is rooted in love and key to obedience.
Gods great initiative to love us inspires us
to love Him back.
Biblical Integration
As the guardians of our homes, it is
our duty to impress upon our children the
truths of Gods Word. We accomplish this
not by quoting scripture all the time, but by
feshing out its principles. Its called biblical
integration. We think Christian; therefore
we live Christian. Gods truth is experienced
and evident in our lives.
Whether or not we realize it, we are
teaching our children all of the time
actions do speak louder than wordsso it
is important for us to model Christ. For our
children, the reality of what it means to be a
Christian becomes so real that the imprint of
Christ is etched in their character.
When reverential fear is the controlling
motive of their lives, our children will have a
wholesome dread of hurting Gods feelings,
of letting Him down. This is the fear of the
Lord, and it is the beginning of the process
of becoming wise, of rightly applying what
they know.
The process is the same for all of us.
When we apply what we know about God
to our lives and actually do what the Bible
says, we experience aha moments of
understanding and exclaim, Oh! Now I get
it! We learn to respect God. Therefore, we
teach our children to respect Him too.
We become wise by studying His
Word. Then we teach His Word to our
children so that His Word hidden in their
hearts will keep them pure and help them
make right decisions.
How can a young man keep his way
pure? By living according to your
word. I seek you with all my heart; do
not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
(Psalm 119:9-11)
Teaching Our Children
It is amazing how many parents give
their children Bibles, march them up to
Childrens Church and hand them over to
the teacher as if to say, You teach him.
This is backwards. Parents are the primary
teachers and therefore must know the Bible
well enough to teach it. What children learn
at church should reinforce what theyve
already learned at home. Christian education
begins at home.
Granted, its true that parents must be
creative. I had a rude awakening the day I

of Wisdom

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge
of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10
tried to have Bible study with my daughter.
She whined, stomped her feet, and said,
Noooo! I persisted anyway, but it didnt
take long to see that all she was waiting for
was our time in the Word to be over.
Ive known families who had devotions
together. Some dear friends of mine
discovered that their daughter was gifted
when at three years old she had memorized
and could recite an entire chapter verbatim
that her father had read to her the night
before. Why wasnt this working for me?
The only result I could see was that my
daughter, La Nej, resented the very thought
of a formal Bible study. She would rather
talk than read. But how would she ever
really know God?
The Deuteronomy 6:7 passage came
to mind. I had to talk to her when we sat
at home, walked along the road, lay down
and got up. I had to capitalize on our time
together. And I had to be a living example
of Gods Word. Telling her Bible accounts
(This reminds me of David and Goliath .
. . and Thats similar to what happened
in the book of Esther . . .), using every
teachable moment, and modeling Christ
replaced my attempts at formal Bible study.
Heres one example. One day La
Nej was grounded, but a certain store was
having a sale, and I wanted to go shopping.
Since I couldnt leave her home alone, I
cautioned that although she was going with
me, I would be the only one shopping. We
went into the mall, and I headed for the
stores sale rack. My daughter also headed
for the sale rack. She found a sunfower
yellow dress sprinkled with daises. She tried
it on. It ft beautifully. I pretended to ignore
her until she asked me to buy the dress for
her. Here was a teachable moment.
What is the defnition of mercy?
I asked. She looked blank. Mercy is
when God doesnt give us what we do
deserve, I explained. I asked her to repeat
this defnition, explaining that when she
deserved a spanking but didnt get one, that
was mercy.
What is the defnition of grace? Again
I was met with a blank stare. Grace is when
God does give us what we dont deserve. I
asked her to repeat this defnition.
The Lord Jesus Christ gives us
salvation. We cant earn it, and we certainly
dont deserve it. I am going to buy you this
dress even though you dont deserve it.
Every time you put it on, I hope it reminds
you of Gods grace to all of us.
Being Role Models
Parents also teach their most powerful
lessons by what they do. Heres another
example. During my daughters elementary
school years, lights were out at 9:00 p.m.,
and I rose at 5:00 a.m. for an hours study
with a cup of coffee.
One morning I slept late, until 5:30
or so. When I went to my usual spot at the
kitchen table, there La Nej was, sitting in
my seat and reading her Bible with a cup of
tea! She fashed a big smile that said, Im
just like Mommy. She continues to read her
Bible to this day and she has matured into a
true student of the Word.
In addition to wise habits at home,
its also vital that parents engage their
children in Childrens Church and weekly
Bible study. Why give children the option
of going or not going to class on Sunday?
Statements such as He doesnt feel like
it or She wants to sit with me in church
leave me wondering whether these same
children make such decisions about going to
school during the week. If they dont have
the option Monday through Friday, why
give it to them on Sunday?
Rememberyou are responsible
for setting the standard! Keep this goal
in mindof raising God-fearers who are
wise because of the Word of God. Then do
everything in your power, beginning with
living holy before your kids, so that your
children grow in the wisdom and knowledge
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. -EIF

Q&Awith
Apostle and Dr. Price
Q: What is the main duty of the parent with
regard to their children?
Duty means responsibility. The frst
responsibility of parents is to love their
children. The thing most people do not fully
understand is that everyone has to be taught
to love. We think of love as some sort of
emotion that happens spontaneously, a feeling
that comes out of nowhere like lightning and
strikes you.
The Bible shows us that love has to
be taught, or developed in children just as
patience, or self-control. If you do not agree
with this, you will have to argue with God, not
me. He wrote the Word.
Titus 2:1-4 says:
1 But speak thou the things which become
sound doctrine:
2 That the aged men be sober, grave,
temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in
patience.
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in
behaviour as becometh holiness, not false
accusers, not given to much wine, teachers
of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to
be sober, to love their husbands, to love
their children,
Too many Christians go along with the idea
of love as an emotion. What is spontaneous,
however, is the capacity for love. Everyone is
born with the capacity or potential. However,
the capacity has to be trained, taught, governed,
controlled and fnally expressed. -EIF

quotations noted above are taken from the

There are basically two common scams

caring or unsuspecting Christians, and both take
place on Facebook.
One is called phishing or what we call a

Phishing is when you login to what looks like a

include a companys brand or logo in an attempt
to deceive you. It may even contain a picture of
a celebrity to convince you that the website is real
and that you should feel comfortable in providing
personal data such as your credit card or bank
account information.
Unfortunately, its a scam to capture your
email and password. With access to your login
information, these people can access Facebook
on your behalf and post messages or links. The
messages or links are usually ads telling your
friends to check out videos or products. If you
fnd your account is automatically sending out
messages, report it to Facebooks help desk
immediately.
The other scam is literally a Fakebook
page masquerading as a legitimate, trustworthy
business or ministry personality. The scammers
are using that familiar name and trusted ministry
to get you to part with your money, credit card or
bank account information to make a charitable
donation for some phony cause.
One way to know youre on a Fakebook
page for EIF ministries is if the page requests a
donation and links you to another page thats not
connected to our main ministry website which
is www.faithdome.org. If youre ever in doubt
whether its a legitimate request from us, contact
our ministry offce (800)-927-EIFM.
But, that doesnt mean you shouldnt LIKE
us on Facebook. There are several reasons you
should LIKE us on Facebook, today!
Social media, including Facebook, is one of
the fastest, most convenient methods to:
Stay connected to Ever Increasing Faith
Ministries throughout the week.
Learn about meeting cancellations or
ministry events.
Stay informed about memorials, birthdays
and other special events.
Take advantage of special offers and
promotions in our online store.
Thats helpful information in a fast-paced
world. In addition, Facebook can also be a form
of ministry. EIF regularly posts devotionals and
inspiring teachings. It also provides a vehicle for
believers to interact with one another and share
encouraging testimonies.
There are a few safe points of entry into our
ministrys Facebook page and other social media
platforms. One way to join EIFs social media
is to go directly to our website. Just look for the
familiar symbols for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
and others. Another route is to sign up for our free
monthly e-newsletter and quarterly EIF Magazine,
which are also found on our website.
Dont allow fear to keep you away from the
benefts of the 21st-century e-church experience.
Get connected to your spiritual family today. Go
to www.faithdome.org, click the Facebook symbol
and LIKE Us if you like us. -EIF
