BURSARY CRITERIA FOR 2014 2015

United Ostomy Association of Canada (UOAC) is offering five - $1000 bursaries in
either of the following categories:

1. Registered nurses planning to pursue a career in Enterostomal Therapy nursing.

2. Individuals living with a permanent ostomy or having had other bowel or bladder
diversionary surgery who plan to undertake a Post-Secondary Education.

NOTE: These bursaries will be issued for one year only. Applicants would need to reapply for
future funding.
Bursaries will be disbursed only upon successful completion of the applicants respective
educational programs.
Bursary Criteria for Enterostomal Therapy nurses:

The ET bursary is only open to RNs with degrees.
The candidates must provide confirmation that they are registered for the CAET
Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education Program (ETNEP) with the intention of
continuing or pursuing a career as an ET nurse.
Preference will be given to an RN who is working in an ET position but has not taken the
ET course or who has an ET position waiting for him/her once the course is completed.
Must provide a 500 word essay explaining ones objectives in receiving a grant from the
UOAC.
A commitment is expected from the successful applicants to assist or give talks at the
local or national UOAC level.
Bursary winners are expected to give UOAC permission to publish their photograph and
background story for an article to be published in the Ostomy Canada magazine
Must be a Canadian citizen.
Successful applicants will be required to provide their SIN # for Canada Revenue Agency
accounting purposes.

Bursary Criteria for persons with a Permanent Ostomy to enter a Post-Secondary
Education course:

Confirmation that the educational institution planned to be attended is located in
Canada.
Confirmation that the applicant is living with a permanent ostomy or has had other
bowel or bladder diversionary surgery and is a member of UOAC.
Must provide a 500 word essay explaining ones objectives in receiving a grant from the
UOAC.
A commitment is expected from the successful applicants to assist or give talks at the
local or national UOAC level.
Bursary winners are expected to give UOAC permission to publish their photograph and
background story for an article to be published in the Ostomy Canada magazine
Must be a Canadian citizen.
Successful applicants will be required to provide their SIN # for Canada Revenue Agency
accounting purposes.
