Admissions and Educational Leaders,

I have taught Alberto Beto Hernandez for the past two years. Although I am not his English II
Pre-AP teacher any longer, he still seeks help from every possible venue. This is an exceptional
quality of his. His humble and gracious nature allows him to improve upon one of his greatest
skills, networking. I can recommend Beto as a student at your institution because he has
demonstrated significant improvement over the past three years and because he has shown
strength and dedication.

Two years ago when I first met Beto, he was often reluctant to participate in class. He struggled
with a significant language gap both in terms of English as a second language as well as being a
few years behind in literacy. Now, he is an eager learner and clearly communicates both in
written and spoken arguments. This resulted in him being an eager participant and is quick to ask
questions when he doesnt completely understand a topic. Beto has taken a proactive
approach in securing his education: he comes to after school tutorials before assignments are
due, to Saturday school and he voluntarily comes to get any missed work when he is not in class.
This approach has led him to be a very organized and prepared individual. He has rarely missed
and assignment or deadline.

I know Beto will be able to be successful because he has demonstrated a strong inner
dedication. His goals include becoming a Biology major. I actually step onto a campus with him
upon his first college tour. During this time I watched his character change from a very shy
student to a future biomechanical engineer. His desire to help children and families will help
motivate him to achieve his goal to be a pediatrician. His abilities to network will make him
successful. He has pressed on despite difficulties in language and confidence. By choosing to
pursue this very difficult degree plan, I can assure you that he is willing and able to challenge
himself and others to be innovative and successful. I am very proud to call Beto my student. I
know one day he will develop something that will change many lives.

Although Beto has struggled to get where he is now, I know that he is graduating with the skills
and knowledge he needs in order to be successful in college. It is for this reasons that I can
recommend Alberto Beto Hernandez as a student for your university.
