Narrative Description of the Classroom

The first thing that I noticed when I entered the class was the well decorated
walls. . Rules and regulations are posted on the walls of the classrooms to constantly
remind the students. They also posted different lesson from different classes and
pictures of themselves and a lot more. I could really say that the students are really
artistic. The classroom's surrounding is quiet and has an adequate lighting where the
students can study without any one bothering them. All of the students has a study desk
with a chair, no one is sitting on the floor. classroom also has a place at the back of the
door where they put their cleaning materials. The personal belongings of the students
are commonly placed under their chair or on the chair itself. The students has a sitting
arrangement that is in favour with the teacher. They are arrange in a way that it would
be easy for the teacher to manage. Although the classroom is not that big I think it is still
conducive for learning because the students make sure that they maintain the
cleanliness and orderliness in their classroom.

An Observation Guide for the Classroom Management

Your Analysis

What is the basis of the classroom organization and routine?

The classroom organization and routine is probably based on what will make the
students learn better. The students, everything in the class is organized so that there
would be effective learning and so that the students will be comfortable while they are
studying. The routine of the class is based on what will make the students interested
and excited with their lesson.

Cite certain theory that can support you answer. Share your insights with
your classmates during the class.
Glasser's choice theory can support my answer. Glasser's choice theory
(formerly known as control theory) posits that students must learn to control their own
behavior. The teacher's role is to guide the student in reflecting on his behaviors and
exploring the reasons behind it. Choice Theory encourages discussion, reflection and
even making amends in the place of simple rewards and punishments. It is designed to
help students understand the motivations behind their behaviors so they can learn to
make better choices on their own.

Your Reflections

1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade/level do you
see yourself in? What routines and procedures would you consider for this level? Why?

I see myself teaching first year students or the grade 7. I think my routine will
start with a prayer then I will give an energizer so that the students will be energized
and be actively participating. after that I will proceed on the lesson and from time to time
I'll be conducting group activities so that the students will enjoy learning. I think that this
kind of routine is effective for grade 7 students since they are at an age wherein they
are really active.

2. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?

Yes but not to the point that they will overrule the rules made by there teacher.
