Some Thoughts on Washington D.C. as it Relates to the Big Picture

Omar Alansari-Kreger

The reality is that people do not want to acknowledge how bad something really
is. That signifies a little too much truth to handle at one consecutive moment. The
nations capital city is definitely no exception to that discretion, but when the divide is
defined by an extreme dichotomy between the affluently wealthy and the powerlessly
impoverished the big picture reality speaks outright in plain sight. That is probably why
Washington D.C. is a place that is so inviting for cronyism; the only other major city in
the world that could rival it, in regards to similarities between the two, would probably
come in the form of Moscow. Why? As most critics of post Soviet Russia have observed
time again, those greedy communists transformed into crazed capitalists overnight
which has transformed that nation into an oligopoly.
Perhaps that can explain why the Russian Federation, Moscow in particular,
retains one of the highest amount of billionaires per capita when compared to anywhere
else in the world. In reiteration to the greater issue at hand, we can hide from the fact
that D.C. is a place where individuals and organizations alike arrive with an agenda that
has already been preordained. Lobbyists grow their affluence by bouncing in between
think tank organizations, departmental offices, and politically themed events so that they
can achieve greater political leveraging power; that describes the fundamental method
in which a lobbyist builds their reputation and corresponding career. That vividly
explains how those young and nave world changers transform into cynics in some of
the most ruthless mediums imaginable.
It is for that reason why it should not be entirely surprising why a successful
lobbyist is someone that takes on an image of an individual that is willing to do just
about anything to get their name heard, respected, and above all sought after. The
essence of those deeds defines their potential which is won by a reputation that is
eventually tagged and targeted as a hot commodity. It wouldnt be too rash to suggest
that D.C. is a place that resembles a giant used car dealership where political lobbyists
serve as the figurative salespeople that convince senators,
congressmen/congresswomen, and voters all across the nation to buy into something
that retains an unbelievably high liability while convincing every group of the three
otherwise.
That can also explain why they make some of the best politicians because a
seasoned lobbyist already understands the inner workings of Capitol Hill; that species of
politician doesnt suffer from an innocently nave worldview that views representative

democracy through a rose tinted glass. If D.C. was a mirror reflection of the United
States as a whole we would be in grave trouble as a nation and it wouldnt be long until
the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave transforms entirely into a third world
country. What most mainstream education in the United States fails to teach us in the
discipline of the social sciences is that the seemingly never ending cycle of third world
depression is largely due to unchecked cronyism that thrives unabated.
No wonder why D.C. has expressed minimal concern about its poor and hungry;
when lobbyism fuses together with cronyism the rich definitely get richer and the poor
get poorer in some of the most shameless ways imaginable.
