Observation Tasks 5 and 6: Different learning styles and
differentiation General observations


Focus: On the learner.

Objective: The student teachers will observe and report on how learners are different.

A.
For this observation, you will begin by observing the class for 1 hour. Take
notes. The following questions will help you focus.

1. What do you notice? Who are the students who answer the questions?
Who are
The students who are quiet? Who are the students who are not focused?
I notice that there are different group level in the classroom. Mohamed
and AlAnood are the children who answer all the questions. Amna was a
very quiet girl in this class. Yousef was always sleep and not focused in
the classs.

2. Are there learners who finish activities quickly? What do they do when they have
finished?
Yes there are one group always finish their activities quickly, They
walk around the class and see their friend activites.

3. Are there learners who do not finish a task(s)? How does the teacher deal with
them?
Yes, when they have more time the teacher set with them and helps
them to complete their tasks.

4. Are there any learners with special needs? What kind of special needs do you
think they have? How does the teacher deal with them?
No.

5. How does the teacher manage learners with different levels/abilities?
She gives them different sheets and activities that related to the
lesson.

Observation task 4: Planning and preparing for learning

Focus: The importance of planning and preparation

Objective
The objective of this task is for student teachers to begin to identify and discuss the
relevance of planning and preparation as well as to gain insight into how teachers do
this.

A. Before the observation
Discuss the task with the teacher and arrange a good time to observe her teaching. (this
could be for as little as 15 min)

B. During the observation, record and make notes on what the teacher and the
learners are doing.

How do you plan? Do you plan weekly, daily, as part of a team or individually?
Ms.Najla plan weekly, All KG2 teachers meet with each other and sharing
ideas for the plan for this week. Then in each week one of the teacher make
a plan and print it for other teachers.
Do you do anything you havent planned to do?
Yes, Sometimes she do something that she like it or saw it on the TV
or read it from the books, But after that she add this activity in her
plan.

What is important to you when planning a lesson?
The most important thing we she plan is to think about different
levels children in the class and make different activity for them.

Do you plan to do the same thing with all the children in the classroom?
(Why/Why not?
No, there are different children I the class and each level need
different thing to understand well. So she do different activity but
with the same information and idea.
