Front Doors, Window Binds or Does Not Operate When
Opening or Closing

Condition
Front door window(s) bind or do not operate
when opening or closing.
May be caused by a broken plastic window
mount -3- of window lifter mechanism -2- in
area of cable anchor cavity.
Service
Install new plastic window mounts as follows:
Move window -6- to lowest position.
Remove front door trim see CD-Rom Repair
Manual Body Interior, Repair Group 70.
Remove component carrier -1-, see front
door and door component carrier, removing,
in CD-Rom Repair Manual - Body Exterior,
Front Doors, Repair Group 57.
Note:
Before removing component carrier, mark
position of component carrier on door using a
fine felttip pen or equivalent.
Remove bolts -4- and open plastic window
mount tabs.
Lift window from plastic window mounts -3-.
Remove damaged window mount from regu-
lator (rotate in direction of arrow).

Remove damaged plastic window mount
from regulator cable.
Install new plastic window mount Part No:
4B0 837 463 to regulator cable ensuring
crimped ferrule is located in mount cavity
-arrow- as shown.
Apply grease, Part No: G 000 450 02 liberally
to regulator where window mount travels
along channel.
Install plastic window mount to regulator
(rotate in direction of arrow).
Repeat procedure for remaining plastic
window mount.
Note:
Both plastic window mounts must be replaced.
Install window to regulator, position glass
according to instructions in CD-Rom Repair
Manual - Body Exterior, Front Doors, Repair
Group 57 for installing new window.
Install component carrier to door, see front
door and door component carrier, installing
in CDRom Repair Manual - Body Exterior,
Front Doors, Repair Group 57.
Note:
Check and adjust component carrier as outlined
in Repair Manual to prevent wind leaks.
Install door trim panel, see CD-Rom Repair
Manual - Body Interior, Repair Group 70.
When procedure applies to vehicles with-
in the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, use
the following:
