IBU Guidelines for Contractor and vessel Owners/ Operators to Work in
Offshore Vessel Inspection Database (OVID)


1. All vessels where applicable shall conduct an OCIMF - OVID inspection prior to being acceptable for IBU
charter.

2. Vessel Owners/ Operators should initially contact Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) in
London and register their Company in OVID system. This will provide Owners/ Operators access to the
Owners/ Operators areas of OVID.

3. Once a Vessel Owner/ Operator is registered in OVID they shall complete Offshore Vessels Particulars
Questionnaire (OVPQ). OVPQ shall be completed by Owner/ Operator prior to applying for Offshore Vessel
Inspection. Each vessel must have an OVPQ. If vessels are sisters please take advantage of the sister ship
option save filling out the OVPQ multiple times.
OVPQ is a 29 page document but only needs to be completed once, unless major structural or equipment
modifications are made to a vessel. Only Owners/ Operators registered have access to this update OVPQ
information.

4. Vessel Owners/ Operators shall select a suitably qualified 3

Party OVID vessel Inspector who is based close
to the area of inspection to complete the OVIQ inspection. If Owners/ Operators need assistance with finding a
suitable inspector then could contact:

They are willing to help and assist Owners/ Operators to complete OVID inspections.
5. Vessel Owner/ Operator shall make all arrangements and pay for vessel Inspections.

6. Once inspection details have been agreed between Vessel Owner/ Operator and 3

etc. and that all are up to date.

complete and fully accurate OVPQ data has been
uploaded into OVID


Above information will be emailed directly to Marine Expert and Senior Marine Operation Specialist who will
enter this information into OCIMF-OVID Database to set up the inspections. The OVID Inspector will
automatically receive an email officially advising of the inspection requirement and provide inspection
questions that should be answered. Only OVIQ Inspection information generated by the Database shall be used
for inspections, use of generic or copied question sets from the internet is not acceptable.

7. Inspector will then perform the inspection and complete the inspection report.

8. On completion of OVIQ inspection OVID Inspector will upload inspection details in OVID Database for
Chevron review. No copy of deficiencies observed will be passed to the vessel Owner/ Operator or the
Captain. They may be verbally discussed.

9. Chevron will review each report for consistency and ensure OVID Compliance once received on the Database.
When necessary the inspection report will be returned to the OVID Inspector for correction.

10. Once report is compliant, it will be accepted by Chevron Representative and sent to vessel Owner/ Operator to
provide the mitigation to any non compliance or gaps advised by OVID Inspector.

11. Vessel Owner/ Operator mitigation plan for correction of inspection deficiencies should be provided as soon as
possible and in any case within 14 calendar days or it is automatically published. Owner/ Operator shall as part
of their mitigation plan make corrections to Inspectors observation if errors are observed.

12. Once all inspection deficiencies have been mitigated to Chevron satisfaction, vessel may be chartered.

13. Chevron approval will be provided in writing to Vessel Owner/ Operator that vessel is acceptable for Chevron
Charter in regards of OVID inspection.
