also valid for "Shift", "Copy" etc. " Until point".
The clicked segment of a line will turn to the " Active segment". The next point to
this will also be active. The active segment is valid as a reference for the functions
"Stretch", "Slide" parallel to another segment.

The key (L)eft :
- Activates an element if no other is activated. Click either on a point of the element
or on a segment (or on a side).
- If the same point is clicked twice, the program activates the next element with
the same point.
- Disactivates all if clicked on an empty space.
The key (M)iddle :
- Disactivates an already activated element (Activate -). Slides an element.
The key (R)ight :
- Activates more elements to an already activated element (Activate +).
The activated element will turn pink and the activated point will stand out.

In order to inactivate click on an empty space in the graphic window (where
there is no element).

If the mouse is moved with depressed key, a rectangle will be drawn
accordingly on the monitor (see sketch). We call this rectangle the "Lasso"
(fence). All the elements within the rectangle can be activated by this "Lasso".
From the position of the curser,
the cadwork locates the nearest

1.4 POINT - POSITION
In order to imagine a point, the following example will be of help :
Point = a pin
Line = a rubber band spanned round the pins
Therefore, a line has a point on each corner.
Example :
A rubber band is spanned
round these pins :
If a pin is removed, the rubber
band retracts round the
remaining pins :

Utilization :see chapter 4.1
With cadwork one can draw in multiple "planes".
These "planes" are called "Layers". Working with
multiple layers has the same effect as if several
drawings were placed on top of each other.
The layers are often used to separate logical units,
such as furniture, supporting walls, non supporting
walls, ventilation, etc.
With cadwork, each layer is classified under a specific
scale. Therefore, a layer has its own scale. A neigh-
bouring layer, for example, has a different scale. This
method enables to draw with reliable scale.
The following drawing has 3 layers :
- Layer 1 : Layout, scale 1:50
- Layer 2 : Section, scale 1:10
- Layer 20 : Title, scale 1:1

STATUS LINE
In order to work with a plotter and a laser-frame at
the same time, there is also a laser-frame besides
the plotter-frame. Contrary to the plotter frame,
multiple laser frames can be added. The laser
frames are numbered and can be printed together
or one at a time.
A HP made A3-plot cannot plot an entire
A3-format, because in the region of the side
plotter rolls cannot be plotted. Therefore,
A3-HP is smaller than an A3 format
accordingly.

top of the monitor (Statusline) the format of the
frame is given at the right side of the units (s.
chapter 1.1).
The plotter-frame can be activated, shifted and

Factor
DXF files allow to exchange data between different CAD programs. They have the information of
every element within the drawing (points, surfaces, lines, texts...). When a DXF file is to be loaded,
one can choose the quality of the data exchange. A same element is not described in the same way in
system A or in system B.
Cadwork keeps up with the structures used by Autodesk (AutoCAD) to be compatible with AutoCAD
and other CAD programs.
It is recommended not to load a DXF file from an open cadwork 2d drawing, because the existant
drawing can be destroyed.
By double click with the left mouse key (L) on the icon of the DXF file, it will open automatically with
cadwork 2d.
While opening, there are a few questions to be answered. Default values are proposed and can be
valued by hitting RETURN (or the right mouse key (R)).
The lecture is always done with the scale 1:1. This scale can be changed...
maximum factor 1000 ! see
below...
If there is an existing file "init.2d" in the current directory, the settings of this file will
automatically be used to open the DXF file. If not, they will be taken from the init.2d file of
the directory ...cadwork.cat/ 2d.
Below shows how to correspond between Cadwork and AutoCAD. These factors should be
used:
Many CAD systems (for ex. AutoCAD), do not know scales. Therefore, one must work with units.
The value is to be defined by the user. For every lecture of a DXF file with cadwork, a multiplying
factor is required.

The possibility to modify elements depends on the type of elements included in a group. If all elements are of the
same type (for ex. all lines), every possibility of modifications (basic functions) proper this group will be available.
However, if several types of elements are joined in a group, only the general values can be modified (global

4.2 SCALE
Window "ZOOM ALL"
The size of texts, nodes and dimensions are independent from scale, because they are
defined in millimeters [mm] on paper when generated. On the other hand, lines and
surfaces are drawn in real dimensions and can be put in other scales. Therefore, do not
change the scale of a layer after the dimensions and texts are entered. If the scale is
changed, it will not change the real size of the objects (coordinates, dimensions) but only
the total size on the drawing. As texts and dimensions are also considered as objects,
the size of them will also change. Therefore, these have to be newly accommodated.

8 Grafic modes, G1-G8 are available.
The 8 mostly used settings for graphical display can be preset and recalled.
Left mouse button: Activate a graphic mode.
Middle mouse button: Changes the active element into the settings of the choosen graphic mode.
Right mouse button: Changes the graphic mode with the settings of the active element.
With MOD GR, the active Graphic mode (G1-G8) can be modified.
The settings are only changed in the actual drawing.
Already defined elements will not be changed automatiaclly to a modified
graphic mode.
If a value shall be changed to be available also in future drawings, the
changes should be made in the file ...\cadwork.cat\userprofile\2d\init.2d.
See chapter 3.15 for additional information on how to load or save file
preferences.
MATCH is a temporary graphic mode in addition to G1 to G8 to use existing attributes of a graphic
in order to continue with those attributes without changing the permanent settings in G1 to G8.
Left mouse button: MATCH on(red)/off(white) . Activates MATCH instead G1-G8.
