LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

Being the faculty member in the Department of Chemistry, I have known Mr. Kaustubh
Thirumalai as a student of the B.Tech. Program in Chemical Engineering. It is with great
pleasure I am writing this letter of recommendation to support his seeking admission to any
renowned and prestigious Institutes of higher studies.

I have handled courses in Chemistry, and also Practical in the same field. I had a number of
opportunities to gauge Mr. Kaustubh’s skills and attitude. He is one of the most excellent
students I have ever met in our department. I am especially touched by his versatility,
conscientious way of study and good academic records. He has successfully completed two
minor research works, one at Planetary & Geosciences Division Physical Research Laboratory,
Ahmedabad, in the field of “Dissolved Inorganic Carbon (DIC) in Cave Waters” and another at
Centre for Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore on
“Modeling the Isotopic Fractionation of ä18O in the monsoonal rain of Bangalore using
PHREEQC”.

Mr. Kaustubh has been active in extra curricular activities and has performed very well in
several competitions held in the Institute. He is efficient at organizing competitive events, both
academic and cultural. He played active and fruitful role in organizing highly innovative events
which have been highly informative to his fellow students.

The qualities I really admire in him are his technical aptitude, hard work and dedication to
his work. He has a quest for learning and he tries to update his knowledge through additional
reading and interaction with his professors.

He has a pleasant character and his winning manners with good communication skills add to
his assets. He has shown great potentialities in academics learning. I am confident that he will be
extremely successful in all his future endeavors. He is focused and determined towards his goals
and sentient about his responsibilities. Mr. Kaustubh ranks in the top 10% of the more than 500
students I have taught in the chemistry subject.

I do not have any doubt or reservation about his capability to complete any course of higher
studies, which demands dedication, hard work and sense of responsibility. This is the most
candid evaluation of his versatility that I could have given.
