The Saab ATC Trainer is a highly

fexible and cost effective simulator
for the training of Air Traffc
Controllers.
Te ATC Trainer supports the training and
analysis of all Air Trafc Control disciplines
regardless of domain, control role or local
regulations. It ensures the highest possible level

requirements of numerous training regimes
and difculty levels and can be set up to mirror
the operational environment in detail. Te
ATC Trainer may also simulate the operational
environment through user-confgurable
interfaces such as radar track feed or emulated
equipment.

Development of the ATC Trainer is achieved
in close cooperation with local authorities
and users, ensuring that functions and HMI
are realistic, adaptable to the training and
simulation needs of the user and delivered
to the highest possible standards. ICAO
and EUROCONTROL, as well as national
requirements, are supported. A set of editable
ICAO 051-054 courses are also included.
When the ATC Trainer is added to the i-TWR
platform for training purposes extra value is
added through keeping the module up to date
with development.

ATC TrAiner - rAdAr
ATC Trainer - Radar supports area, approach,
and control simulation and training and can
be used with the ATC Trainer - TWR or other
networkable simulators for a total training
environment. ATC Trainer - Radar can be
used with operational hardware or can emulate
functions using touch screen equipment. Te
ATC Trainer - Radar can be set up to emulate
most modern ATM systems and functions and
provide functions for:
Radio
Intercom
Phone
Voice and data recording
Synchronised replay
Data stream (such as track feed) record
and replay
Direct support for Radar Maps and
airspace data defnitions
Voice recognition and tagging of
communication for reduction of pseudo
pilot load or stand alone exercises

ATC TrAiner - Twr
Te ATC Trainer - TWR simulates the
environment around the Air Trafc Control
Tower. All roles involved in an exercise operate
in a common synthetic environment that
realistically refects the scenario. Tis covers
trainees, pseudo pilots, instructors and the
exercise manager. Te ATC Trainer - TWR may
run one or several exercises in parallel. Te
ATC Trainer - TWR is capable of simulating a
multidisciplinary environment with functions
for procedural ATC such as local, ground,
approach and area control or combinations of
functions in real time.
All conditions that may afect procedures and
challenge the training audience are supported.
Precipitation (rain, hail, snow), light, wind
and weather conditions are all accurately
simulated. Te ATC Trainer - TWR supports
the full mode and range of real time air trafc
simulation such as gate to gate or on block
of block using display systems of choice.
ATC TrAiner voiCe
To reduce the workload for the training
organization or for standalone phraseology
training the robust ATC Trainer Voice module
provide voice recognition and automation of
pilot behaviour to any training session
inTegrATion To ATM
A wide range of standardised data interfaces,
such as FLIGHTPLAN, radar track data, MET
data, alarm signals, semaphores, arresting nets
and more, are user-confgurable and can be
connected to real-world equipment. Tis can
greatly simplify the integration to operational
or simulated ATM assets.
TrAining for reMoTe Tower
Te new era of remote tower operations is now
underway and available to the market, creating
an operational world that enables on-time Air
Trafc Control, considered to be one of the
most important improvements to Air Trafc
Management. Te controllers will face new and
exciting opportunities but also a shif in job
description as the prerequisites change. Tis
needs to be trained.
Users of the Saab i-TWR and Remote Tower
systems can optionally enjoy the use of the ATC
Trainer as an embedded training module. Te
ATC Trainer provides scenario and simulation
support to i-TWR as well as injecting simulated
air and ground movements to the real world
