This decision has been supported by fact that mentioning that Tajikistan is a highly agrarian
country, with the rural population at more than 70% and agriculture accounting for 60% of
employment and around 30% of GDP. As is typical of economies dependent on agriculture,
Tajikistan was the poorest republic with a staggering 45% of its population in the lowest income septile .

The first thing that comes to mind when talking about business is, can we make a profit?
Almost all businesses put Profit as top priority in their decision making process. Indeed,

profits to improve their product design, quality and enhance the promotion to penetrate new
markets. At the initial stage, our group has set a target to gain profit about 40% from each
product we sell and will increasingly up to 50%. A portion of the profit gained will be used to
upgrade our processing facilities, improved manpower skill through training and the
most important is to enhance research and development program. Our group has decided
to form a company to grasp the opportunity to do business in Tajikistan. With the right name

1.2 EMBLEM OF TAJIKISTAN
State emblem of the republic of Tajikistan was approved on December 28, 1993. This
national symbol represents a stylized image of a crown and a semicircle of seven stars above
it. Stars are surrounded by rays of the sun rising from behind the mountains, shrouded in
snow and edged with a crown of wheat branches on the right, and cotton branches with
opened bolls on the left. Atop, the crown is interwoven with a ribbon, and there is a book at
the bottom of the emblem.
Three projections on the crown symbolize the country's administrative division into three
regions - Khatlon, Zarafshon, Badakhshan. Crown is also a symbol of the country, because
the word "Taj" is translated from the Tajik language as the "crown".
Seven stars - traditionally the number seven is considered sacramental for the Tajik people,
it was believed that it brings happiness and bestows virtue, as well as it is a symbol of
perfection. The sun rising from behind the mountains is a sign of the start of a new life and
light. Wheatears are the wealth of the country, symbolizing agriculture and settled life.
Golden mountains with snowy peaks represent ridges of the Alai, the Transalai Mountains
and the Pamirs.

7. ECONOMY PREVIEW
Tajikistan has one of the lowest per capita GDPs among the 15 former Soviet republics.
Because of a lack of employment opportunities in Tajikistan, as many as a million Tajik
citizens work abroad, almost all of them in Russia, supporting families in Tajikistan through
remittances. Less than 7% of the land area is arable.
Cotton is the most important crop, and its production is closely monitored, and in many cases
controlled, by the government. The civil war (1992-97) severely damaged the already weak
economic infrastructure and caused a sharp decline in industrial and agricultural production.
Tajikistan's economic situation remains fragile due to uneven implementation of structural
reforms, corruption, weak governance, seasonal power shortages, and the external debt
burden. Food and fuel prices in 2011 increased to the highest levels seen since 2002 due in
part to an increase in rail transport tariffs through Uzbekistan. Tajikistan imports
approximately 60% of its food and 90% of that comes by rail.
