and also a m ec hanism in whic h m aintains the deto nato r
ho lder in a saf e po sitio n with the c apsu le iso lated f r o m
the f u z e u nless and u ntil pr edeter m ined saf ety -r elated

Fixed into an axially extending ho le in the m o du le 9 is
spigo t 2 1 hav ing an exter nally sc r ew-thr eaded po r tio n
2 2 extending f r o m the r ear f ac e o f m o du le 9 b ac k
to war ds the m em b er 1 1 and, sc r ewed o nto this po r tio n
2 2 so that it lies u p against the r ear f ac e o f m o du le 9 ,
ther e is a f ly wheel 2 3 . A r adially -extending ho le 2 4 is
pr o v ided in the no se c ap 1 leading into the c ham b er 3
adj ac ent the per ipher y o f ?y wheel 2 3 and, in this ho le
2 4 , ther e is m o u nted a detent peg 2 5 , a c o m pr essio n
spr ing 2 6 , and a set-sc r ew 2 7 , the spr ing b eing b etween

the r o tatio n o f the ?y wheel 2 3 tends to lag that o f the
shell, the ?y wheel sc r ews itself alo ng sc r ew-thr eaded
po r tio n 2 2 o f spigo t 2 1 so that the po inted end 2 9 o f
pr o b e 2 8 pier c es disc 1 9 and enter c ham b er 1 8 .
M eanwhile, ?r ing o f the shell will hav e star ted the
