SELF SUSTAINING SKYSCRAPER

OBJECTIVE
We have planned to make the world a more efficient place to live, by using renewable sources
of energy in a self sustaining skyscraper .For this we have use different technologies viz solar
panels, aero generators, piezoelectric pads, Building Integrated Farming and nano copper
particles.

IMPLEMENTATION METHODOLOGY:
Tools, Techniques, Methods involved

The SKYSCRAPER involves:
SOLAR PANELS on every window to generate electricity fromsolar energy.
AEROGENERATORS on the roof to extract wind energy more efficiently.
PIEZOELECTRIC pads, to generate electricity from pressure.
HYDROPONIC greenhouse on the park yard.
Nano COPPER particles to enhance the framework.

APPLICATION
Our idea can be applied in various skyscrappers at various places of the world. Our project is a
versatile one. It can cater the needs depending on the geographical location of the place. For
example PIEZOELECTRIC pads can be used in discos and pubs(previously known for only a
mode of entertainment) to generate electricity. Solar panels can be installed in almost all
skyscrapers irrespective of its location. Aerogenerators can be used in windy places. Nano
copper particles can be used in manufacturing all buildings. Every technology can be used
together or individually according to the needs of the consumers. So in short our idea covers
almost all types of consumers.

BASIC EXPLANATION OF THE PROJECT:

Solar panels are installed in windows of skyscrapers to harness solar energy to generate
electricity through photovoltaic during the day. The excess energy is used to produce
hydrogen through hydrolysis which in turn can be used to power at night through fuel
cells. Thus electricity is generated at all time, reducing its restrictions.
The Aero generators harness the wind energy in more efficient way than the orthodox
wind turbine. It spins on its axis combating the current limitations of the traditional three
blade horizontal axis turbines. It's rigid aero foils generate lift that rotates the arm at 3
rpm. Aero generators of 600 KW will generate electricity at 690 V tension at half the
weight of equivalent conventional wind turbine design.
Piezoelectric pads are used to harness energy resulting from mechanical strain. When
piezocrystals are compressed or stretched they produce an electric field. It can be put in
areas like discos, exercising pads and parking lot to generate electricity.
Practice of high performance hydroponic greenhouse and vertical farming systems on and
in mixed use buildings to exploit synergies between the built environment and
agriculture.
Using nanotechnology structural integrity can be maintained also nano vent skin can be
used to generate electricity

TIME SPAN AND FEASIBILITY OF THE PROJECT

A common impression about green building is that it is too expensive and time consuming to be
considered economically feasible. However, studies have shown that the costs of green buildings
are not substantially higher than regular development projects. Higher construction costs can
generally be avoided by the inclusion of green design from the outset of the project.
Additionally, green buildings provide an number of economic advantages.
Energy and Water Savings. The resource efficiency provided and technology of our self
sustaining skyscraper leads to drastic reductions in operation costs that quickly recoup
any additional project costs and continue to offer dramatic long-term savings. Money
previously directed toward utility costs may be used for other purposes.
Increased Property Values. With energy costs on the rise, the low operating costs and
easy maintenance of green buildings make for lower vacancy rates and higher property
values.
Decreased Infrastructure Strain. Our efficient building exert very less demand on the
local power grid and water supply, stretching the capacity of local infrastructure.
Increased Employee Productivity. Employee productivity has been positively correlated
to indoor environmental conditions, and shows improvements where green principles
have been applied.

AVENUES FOR FURTHER RESEARCH
This is a unique concept in architecture keeping all the energy conventions in mind still in its infant
stage. Many technologies that we have used here like aerogenerators, piezoelectric pads, nano
technology have still a long way to go so that they can be used it our daily lives. Therefore it has
provided a great scope for all the environment enthusiast and architectures to make an in vitro
green environment to save our mother EARTH.
