The programs meet the National EMS Education Standards and are approved by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, and the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for EMS Professions (CoAEMSP) through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Emergency Medical Services provides comprehensive education necessary to provide advanced emergency medical care for patients accessing emergency medical services. Clinical and field internships are key components of this program since they offer students opportunities to experience the role of emergency service provider in various settings. Admission to the A.A.S. program requires a general college application. If admitted, students must meet certain conditions for continuance.
