• Overall Purpose of the project :
1. Prediction of deaths in coming years.
2. Predict Medical expenses
3. Predict % of successful surgeries
4. Expected revenew
• Development of the application with user interface
enhancement using business intelligence environment
related to big database for giving a predictive studies of
the work in the hospital and here are more specific
aims of the project that are related to management :
1. Improve communication between employees.
2. Supervisors can manage more effectively.
3. Offers potential for improving operational and
strategic performance for the hospital.
4. Help decision making .

Question 2: The project proposal (55 marks):

• Target customer : Hospitals

• In our real world ,the main concern of hospitals is to
provide an approximation of statistics in order to
improve its performace in coming years for the points
mentioned above so as we see when a program can
predict some values for the hospital , managers can
find a way to improve these numbers before facing the
problem and the most important problems are :
1. Non specific revenue study
2. No accurate qualification for the employees and
doctors
3. Increasing of number of deaths with no accurate
reason
4. No studies for expected expenses
5. Lack in decision making
 6. Non efficient management

• Suggested Solutions :
1. Specific studies and realistic prediction that
depends on the historical data found in the
database .
2. Tracing the action of all employees , thus
providing a logical qualification for these
employees
3. A predictive study with a graphical interface
dashboards for expenses .
4. Facilities for decision making via providing studies
of the above that leads to an effective
management

• We prepared for our literature by searching for a
professional idea that can benefit the business industry
in a smart way ,so after finding the benefits of the data
mining and business intelligence , google was our main
search engine that we used to get our info .

Business intelligence is a logic that is related to many applications used for many
activities like data mining , Reporting ,analyzing
Companies use Business intelligence to improve decision making and
identify inefficient business processes that are ripe for re-
engineering . Although BI holds great promise, implementations can be dogged by
technical and cultural challenges.

2nd paragraph : (What kind of companies use BI systems?)

Restaurant Chains can use Bi systems for :
1. what new products to add to their menus
2. which dishes to remove and which underperforming stores to close
3. renegotiating contracts with food suppliers and identifying opportunities to
improve inefficient processes
Business analysis that is part of BI is essential to the success of
companies in a wide range of industries.
These BI systems are also used in football teams system for :
1. analytics help the team select players and stay below the NFL salary cap
2. Patriots coaches and players are renowned for their extensive study of game
film and statistics
3. Off the field, the team uses detailed analytics to assess and improve the
"total fan experience."
Wal-Mart uses vast amounts of data and category analysis to dominate the
industry
Amazon and Yahoo they are analytical and follow a "test and learn" approach to
business changes.

After reading this document we have an idea about how business intelligence
can feed all businesses in a smart way so we have a great idea what are the
purposes used to manage in Business intelligence .

Equipments that should be used :

• SQL Server Functions (SSIS Expressions)

The expression language includes a set of functions for use in expressions. An expression can use a single
function, but typically an expression combines functions with operators and uses multiple functions.

The functions can be categorized into the following groups:

1. Mathematical functions that perform calculations based on numeric input values provided as
parameters to the functions and return numeric values.

2. String functions that perform operations on string or hexadecimal input values and return a string
or numeric value.

3. Date and time functions that perform operations on date and time values and return string,
numeric, or date and time values.

4. System functions that return information about an expression.

• SQL Server Analysis Services(SSAS)

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services (SSAS) delivers online analytical processing (OLAP)
and data mining functionality for business intelligence applications. Analysis Services supports
OLAP by letting you design, create, and manage multidimensional structures that contain data
aggregated from other data sources, such as relational databases. For data mining applications,
Analysis Services lets you design, create, and visualize data mining models that are constructed
from other data sources by using a wide variety of industry-standard data mining algorithms.

In the near future we will start by analyzing the requirements and have
more searches for getting a more deep view related for our purpose
project with all its features and planning for the ability to do a very
fruitful work.
