1 MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS
Certificate for Workshop
Workshop employees re!"re: Engineering trade qualification or at least 3
years experience in a similar role. Apprentices maybe employed but must work
under the supervision of the Workshop Supervisor.
heSite !perations "anager # Workshop Supervisor are responsible for all
maintenance and repairs$ manufacture of new equipment$ design and installation
of new plants$ modifications to old plant and keeping all plant in a serviceable
condition. he duties of the Workshop maintenance team include the following%
&. o maintain all plant in good working conditions. 'when resources allow(
). o order all necessary materials and spare parts to keep all machinery in
good working order.
3. o manufacture any new equipment that is required.
*. o assist in design and costing of new plant installations and
modifications to existing plant.
+. Any other engineering procedures that may be required or necessary.
,. All alterations and maintenance on fixed plant to be carried out with main
switch on switchboard switched off. A personal lock # danger tag fitted to
isolation switch on individual piece of equipment locked in the off position.
-. All hot work such as electric welding$ oxy welding and oxy cutting will
require a .ermit to Work which will be issued by the Site !perations
"anager / Supervisor / 0oreman.
1. Any equipment requiring hot work to be carried out during maintenance
and repairs has to be cleaned and be substantially free of dust before
commencement of maintenance.
2. When maintenance and repairs is being carried out on an individual piece
of equipment by maintenance staff$ no other persons are to work on
that piece of equipment except to assist the maintenance staff.
&3. he Site !perations "anager and the "aintenance Supervisor are
responsible for the safe keeping of all company tools 'hand$ portable or
fixed(.
&&. Where practical all tools to be collected and locked in Workshop prior to
close down time each day.

&). 4efore any maintenance$ manufacture of new equipment and alteration to
old equipment is started a "aintenance 5equest 0orm '.W6 Attachment

&3. o enter a confined space at any time a person must have completed
Confined Space Entry training and comply with these procedures. A
harness must be worn and attached to an external point to enter a
confined space and a )

person must be aware of what the person in the
confined space is doing at all times. 6f working in the space a .ermit to
Work must be completed and signed.
&*. When maintenance staff are required to work at heights$ they must be
qualified to do so by way of completion of Working Safely at 9ourse. hey
must also fill out a .ermit to Work form before commencement of work.
he area immediately below must be barricaded off with high visibility :no
entry; tape. hose working near7by are to wear hard hats for personal
protection until the maintenance staff advise them otherwise.
&+. "aintenance staff are to allow entry in to the workshop of other .acific
Seeds personnel only if the workshop if safe to do so.
All other Staff "embers that need to use Workshop ools must advise
"aintenance Staff and record any tools taken on the Whiteboard located in the
Workshop.
