    Today's decision by Judge Rolf M. Treu is a victory for all public school parents and students across the country because it sets a precedent. Finally, there is a shifting in the balance of power that allows the educational needs of students to outweigh the interest of the status quo.. http://www.politico.com/story/2014/06/california-teachers-tenure-vergara-ruling-unions-107656.html Athena Wagner, Outreach Coordinator for the Connecticut Parents Union said, "If it is unconstitutional in California then it is unconstitutional in Connecticut too” Gwendolyn Samuel, President of the Connecticut Parents Union said, “Now it is time for Connecticut lawmakers to ensure students have equal protections under the law as well. We must align ourselves with California’s ruling that states “evidence has been elicited in this trial of the specific effect of grossly ineffective teachers on students” Furthermore, Connecticut has NO MORE excuses to not protect the educational rights of students based on March 22, 2010: the state Supreme Court ruled that Connecticut school children are guaranteed an adequate standard of quality in their public school…the state constitution requires "that the public schools provide their students with an education suitable to give them the opportunity to be responsible citizens able to participate fully in democratic institutions, such as jury service and voting, and to prepare them to progress to institutions of higher education, or to attain productive employment and otherwise to contribute to the state's economy."
