The Egan Campaign Official Platform

Foreign policy:
The Egan Campaign supports more diplomacy and less militaristic force with less emphasis on
foreign affairs and more attention on domestic policy and the evolution of American life. Due to
our current outstanding military prowess some of the money being funneled to the military
should be transferred to research organizations such as NASA. Support of developing nations is
encouraged, however, not at the expense of American stability and lives. Ultimately, we seek an
America that is at peace with the world. Foreign intervention should be a secondary focus to
domestic stability and development.
Economy:
The state of the United States Economy is essential to the stability and stature of the United
States as a whole. The Egan Campaign believes the economy is a crucial issue and will be one of
the main focuses of the campaign as the Egan Campaign hopes to focus internally on the United
States and on domestic issues of the United States as to create a new era of American prosperity.
The Economy is addressed in short in the bullets below:
Government Spending and Revenue: Government spending should be limited from
where it is now if the deficit is to be removed and handled properly. The government
should not create debt that burdens future generations of hard working Americans in
their pursuit of the great American dream. We prefer cutting expenditures to balance
the budget over raising taxes. Income tax, though an intelligent concept, is grossly
high in many cases. This great nation is based on personal and economic equality.
All persons should pay an equal income tax, without note of write-offs or any other
loopholes. This number should be set and adjusted only by legislation. Spending on
the military should be reduced and social security should be amended to raise the
retirement age as it was initially created when 65 years of age was the average life
expectancy. Fundamentally, retirement planning is not the purpose of the
government or the role it should play in everyday life. Personal planning is exactly
as it sounds, personal. Each individual faces the burden of his or her own future.
Even so, Social Security is currently a valuable institution in theory and should be
revamped to meet the needs of the American public.
Environment, Energy, and Resources: We support protection of the environment
and of the Earth as well as intelligent and conscious use of our resources. The
government is fundamentally not at fault for environmental damage, as it is
corporations and private enterprises that are often taking part in pollution and other
forms of environmental damage. Regulation to an extent is helpful, however,
ultimately, the American people and interest groups must support the cause and push
on the personal level to support environmental protection and reform, as the
environment is not only damaged on the corporate level, but in the everyday life of
each and every American. The government should promote alternative forms of
energy and use funding taken from the military to conduct research on alternative
forms of energy and the protection of American resources.
Wall Street, Banking, Corporations, and Money: The Egan Campaign fully
supports a free-market system where unrestricted competition breeds profit and the
American dream. We hope to work closely with Janet Yellen and the rest of the
Federal Reserve Board to preserve the integrity of the American financial system all
the while working closely to not impede the American dream and the fruits of each
individuals labor, be it on Wall Street or on Main Street.
Tax Free Zones: The Egan Campaign strongly supports the concept New York State
has tried in recent years by encouraging new startups within New York State by
creating tax free zones for these new businesses should they meet certain
requirements. Other states should follow suit in this idea as to encourage the creation
of new American business with new and advanced ideas as to reinvigorate
Americas role as an exporter in the global market.

Internet Freedom and Information Security:
Wikileaks as a concept is a necessary tool for American citizens; however, if the information that
is leaked creates potential danger for the safety of the American people, Wikileaks cannot
continue to abuse the power of free speech. We agree with the fact that Americans need to know
things but information that directly compromises attempts to protect the American people and
American troops makes the release of confidential information becomes a slippery slope. Net
neutrality is essential to the freedom of expression. Oppressing the capability of equal rights
through the filtering of available internet is detrimental to what the internet represents.
Additionally, the defense of this nation requires that we have intelligence and counterintelligence
both in foreign and domestic operations, however, this intelligence should never break the
boundaries set by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The search for intelligence must never
take priority over protecting the civil liberties of American citizens.
Gay Marriage:
Gay marriage is an extremely sensitive topic among Americans. The Egan Campaign will neither
campaign strongly for nor strongly against Gay marriage, as it is the peoples right to decide
their own ways of life, morality, and, in essence, who they marry. It is not the federal
governments job to enforce or legislate any sort of relative or opinionated morality. In America,
the people decide. Sexual orientation, gender, or preference should not have any sort of impact
on the governments protection and treatment of citizens.
Abortion:
Abortion has been tried and tested within recent American history. The Supreme Court has
already made decisions on abortion and the Egan Campaign supports precedent on this topic. It is
not the federal governments job to enforce or legislate any sort of relative or opinionated
morality. When in doubt, the government should always lean towards granting more freedoms
than less. Campaigns on the national level to work on adoption programs, improving Planned
Parenthood, promoting sexual education in schools, and improving systems related to orphans
and foster children while the states legislate on abortion in itself will allow for a safe network of
support and safety for unplanned children and the parents of unplanned children in cases where
the mother is too far in to pregnancy to receive an abortion or when a state prohibits abortion in
certain time frames.
Bipartisanship:
Sean Egan is a firm supporter of bipartisanship and reaching across the aisle. While some
candidates may be stubborn and stick only to the party lines, Sean Egan holds a strong record of
working with members of both the Democratic and Republican parties. Even within the Egan
campaign, campaign staffers stand as libertarians, conservatives, and liberals respectively hoping
to push a moderate platform to truly meet the needs of purple America.
The Legalization of Cannabis:
The Egan Campaign believes that at the very least, on the federal level, marijuana and cannabis
should be demoted to a schedule 2 or 3 drug, as it has been found time and time again that
marijuana is much less dangerous and adverse to society than other schedule 2 drugs. By
definition, marijuana should not be a schedule 1 drug, and ideally should be a schedule 3 drug,
however any demotion of level is a start. The Egan Campaign also believes that the states should
have the right to decide on the legalization of cannabis and the federal government should
respect the states decisions in legalizing or prohibiting either medical or recreational cannabis.
The Egan Campaign would also like to explicitly state that marijuana clearly has medical uses as
shown by a plethora of studies. Cannabis would also be an extremely lucrative new aspect of the
American economy.
Money in Politics:
The Egan Campaign believes donations to politics are forms of expression of support and free
speech, however, the campaign also recognizes the unfair advantage this gives to the extremely
wealthy top 1%. For this reason, the Egan Campaign agrees with how the law currently stands as
far as campaign finance goes and stands by the Supreme Court ruling made on April 2, 2014,
that struck down the cap on overall campaign donation limits while still capping donations to a
single candidate. The Egan Campaign will not propose a new stance on this issue and will stand
by the courts and by the law.
Military Size:
Plain and simple, we must cut back on military spending if we are ever to balance our budget.
The American military is the strongest in the world by a significant margin as far as size,
numbers, and technology goes. That being said, in a time of global change and advancement
such as the one we face today with technological and social advancement, military spending
should at least be halved and focused more on new technology that distances humans from the
battle ground. Less boots on the ground is always better. Spending will be sufficient to
maintain ample protection and maintenance of necessary military bases and strategic
strongpoints across the globe, however, most military personnel will be pulled from foreign
nations or deployed without combat in mind. We must focus inward on domestic stability and
issues. This goes back to two of the foundations of the Egan campaign: fiscal responsibility and
focus on domestic affairs and stability.
The War on Terror:
The War on Terror has clearly been more effective using special ops teams and targeting specific
people and groups (not nations). All targets will be clearly assessed and analyzed as to how we
can safely remove threats to the American public with the lowest number of casualties on both
sides of the conflict. In times of crisis, we will not hesitate to use the power of the United States
special ops forces and military to remove severe threats and protect the public. We do not
negotiate with terrorists.
Healthcare:
The Egan campaign believes that while Obamacare had good intentions and admirable core
values, it must be amended. The Egan campaign hopes to provide more flexibility to the system
as to provide the people more options with their services and if they want these services at all.
The Egan campaign also hopes to work more closely with the insurance companies and
corporations involved in providing healthcare as to find a way to reach out to larger portions of
the American public to urge them to sign up for the healthcare plan. Egancare will be more cost-
effective, flexible, reasonable, and well thought out in order to fulfill the needs of the American
people and update the American healthcare system to modern standards.
Education:
The Egan campaign supports strengthening the education system by focusing more closely on it
fiscally, allowing students to select schools, and focusing on pushing the American educational
curriculum so that it matches that of the rest of the world. The US is lagging in quality of
education and this is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately in order to preserve the
prowess of great American minds and protect the future of our American children.

International Trade and Globalization:
The United States must focus on national output in terms of international trade. The Egan
Campaign supports free and open trade with all markets as to provide the largest room for
growth within the American economy, however, in order to stabilize the American economy and
achieve a new era of American prosperity, the United States must begin to shift into a nation of
export rather than a nation of import. The Egan Campaign hopes to fiscally support the creation
of new American factories, research facilities, and technological hubs in order to increase the
demand for American made products on the global market. In terms of globalization, the Egan
campaign welcomes diversity, cultural exchange, economic exchange, and interaction with
global citizens and markets.
Immigration:
The Egan campaign believes that the current system of immigration in terms of illegal aliens and
the punishment of these illegal aliens is too strict, arbitrary, and ineffective. The Egan campaign
hopes to loosen restrictions on immigration as to make it feasible for lower income persons to
immigrate to the great land of the United States, however, the Egan campaign believes that some
restrictions must apply and that these immigrants must still be screened and analyzed prior to
their naturalization as citizens and their admissions into this great nation. The Egan campaign,
overall, is always shooting for efficiency and freedom.
Gender Equality:
The Egan campaign acknowledges the gender pay gap and other womens rights issues as real
and pressing. Women are essential components of the American economy and public and are
often slighted for positions and income in relation to their male counterparts. The Egan campaign
hopes to push policies (after consultation with the American people and Womens interests
groups) that directly and effectively work towards promoting the equal pay and treatment of
hardworking American women.
