Chapter 1: The Newborn

Chanyeol was too young to realize what was happening around him. His mother would always
put earphones in his ears every night while he listened to happy songs telling him to pay
attention and if he finishes the tape, hell get a sweet reward. Chanyeol loves chocolate so he
patiently waited until the last song ends. He always listens, not aware that outside his bedroom,
her mom and dad were screaming on top of their lungs fighting over and over again.
Soon, a three-year-old Chanyeol found himself in an unfamiliar large house. Little Chanyeol
could feel his eyes going wide as they travel to every corner of the well built mansion. Her mom
told him that hell be meeting his brother but Chanyeol didnt ever recall having a brother. He
didnt uestion his mom either or as!ed about his father. He was ushered towards a grand room"
eyes too wide, while a huge chandelier shining above him almost blinded his eyes. He saw his
mom suddenly running towards a handsome man and Chanyeol, with his simple mind, noticed
how his mothers eyes lit up and the way she smiled was more blinding than the hanging
chandelier. Chanyeol thought that it was a good thing because he is the happiest whenever he
sees his mom happy.
#Chanyeol, honey.$ His moms sweet voice wo!e him from his trance.
#% want you to meet Luhan.$ Chanyeol saw a small !id hiding from the man who made his
mother smile.
#Luhan$ &he voice came from the man, while the little !id was still clutching on the mans
pants. #'eet your brother.$
Chanyeol heard her mother whispered to him. Go ahead. Greet him. So Chanyeol did.
#Hi, %m Chanyeol.$ (ith a big grin on his face, he stretched his tiny arms for Luhan to reach.
)ee!ing over, Luhan saw Chanyeols face smiling and soon enough he made his way out of his
fathers bac! and reached for Chanyeols hand.

&hat day, Chanyeol met his brother. He couldnt be any happier.
He was with his mom, his brother Luhan, and the handsome man. His mom told him after a few
days of their stay that it was o!ay to call the handsome man as dad. Chanyeol didnt argue nor he
as!ed multiple uestions" he *ust smiled and for the first time in the three years of his life, he
found himself smiling while muttering a soft dad. He thought his happiness was overflowing.

%t has been a year and little Chanyeol and little Luhan grew closer together. Luhan would always
ma!e sure his younger brother Chanyeol will always feel love" will always feel secure. Luhan.
Chanyeol on the other hand would always bring smile to Luhans face. Chanyeol thin!s that
having a brother is the best thing there is.
&heir relationship as brothers grew healthier *ust li!e their bond got stronger.
,uring a family dinner, only Chanyeol, his mom and dad were at dining room. Chanyeol was too
sad he refused any food offered to him.

his chair.
#Luhan hyung isnt here.$ )outing, Chanyeol bowed his head down afraid his mom and dad
would see the tears forming in his eyes.

His mom smiled and slowly wrapped her hands on little Chanyeol, #Honey, Luhan will be here
tomorrow, do you want your brother to be sad- He wants you to eat your dinner right-$
Chanyeol slowly nodded his head.

Chanyeol instantly loo!ed at his mother, wide eyes full of hope, #Luhan hyung will be home
tonight-$ %t was almost a sueal.

1nd as fast as Chanyeol smiled, its the same when the happiness faltered.

Chanyeol shoo! his head still disappointed.

Chanyeol could not understand why his heart was in pain but he was happy. He could not
understand the e2citement lingering in his body.
Chanyeol felt his heart could e2plode any minute.
&hat night, Chanyeol slept together with his mom and dad, not because he was scared of sleeping
alone but because he wanted to sleep together with his brother.

his mom so much and remembered how he cried when his mom told him she would be away for
a wee! because she needed to stay at the hospital so the bump on her stomach will go away.
&he first day his mom left, Chanyeol cried himself to sleep. (hen morning came, Luhan gave a
chocolate to a lonely little Chanyeol telling him that their mom would be fine. Chanyeol loved
his brother so much.

Chanyeol was too happy to ob*ect. 1nd in a flash, Chanyeol was up and ran towards the
bathroom. Luhan ran after him.

Chanyeols eyes widen and stared at Luhans eyes. #/-b-brother-$ Chanyeol as!ed.

Chanyeol was too over*oyed. He felt his heart e2ploding from too much bliss. &he word brother
lifted Chanyeols mood more brightly. He thought having a brother li!e Luhan was already
perfect and now another angel would be part of their family. Hes going to have a brother again.
#Luhan hyung, lets hurry4 % want to see our brother already.$ Chanyeol said as he reached for
his brothers hand, *umping on his way.

#Hyung.$ Chanyeol murmured softly while he held Luhans soft hands tightly.

Chanyeol answered with a smile on his lips. #%f he will loo! li!e you, hell be pretty too.$
Luhan giggled. #%m so e2cited, % want to see him already.$
Soon enough, Luhan saw his dad approaching and with Luhan and Chanyeols arms lin!ed
together, they both hopped their way to the figure wal!ing towards them.

#Hes still sleeping so as your mom, so lets wait for a few more minutes until they wa!e up,

Luhan whined and almost threw a tantrum while a three-year-old Chanyeol loo!ed detested.
&heir dad softly laughed and patted both boys head.
#5ou two will meet /ae!hyun soon, o!ay-$ &heir father said giving them a warm smile.
Luhan and Chanyeol loo!ed at each other, both with wide eyes and a threatening grin and at the
same time uttered, #/ae!hyun$
1fter a few minutes of waiting and playing around with Luhan, Chanyeol saw his dad again and
his mood was brighter than a thousand fold as his dad gestured Its time and both boys raced
their way down the end of the hall.
Chanyeols mouth remained open as he stepped inside the room, together with Luhan. He
observed the room in the hospital with !een eyes. He felt his heart beating wildly against his
chest and his throat gone dry for no apparent reason. His grip on Luhans hand tightened.
Luhan was suealing in delight and suddenly he let go of his brothers hand while the former ran
towards their mom. He saw Luhan hugging his mom. Luhan uic!ly shifted his gaze around the
room and soon his eyes darted to the small figure beside his mom.
#Chanyeol.$ He heard his moms voice. #,id you miss me- Come here.$ /ut Chanyeol didnt
want to hug his mom because he wanted to see the baby instead.
Chanyeol heard his mom laugh. #He wants to see the baby.$
Chanyeol can feel his face heating up from the embarrassment but all was forgotten when his
step dad wal!ed towards him and ushered him towards the bed.
Chanyeols heartbeat raced a thousand times faster as he saw a tiny little boy on the bed sleeping
peacefully.
Hes so little. Chanyeol thought and suddenly he feared the baby might get hurt if he touched
him.
#He is so cute.$ Luhan shouted e2citedly when the baby stirred. Luhan uic!ly covered his
mouth and Chanyeol felt a sudden desire of protectiveness over the baby. He angrily muttered a
shhhhh as Luhan softly whispered Im sorry.
&he gentle sound of /ae!hyun6s breathing brought Chanyeol into a state of euphoria. His focus
was on the little hands that were curled into a fist and how the babys s!in loo!ed too soft.
His gaze suddenly shifted when he heard Luhan as!ing their mom. #Can % !iss him-$
#7f course.$ &heir mother smiled seeing her little angels welcoming her newborn.
1 sueal full of happiness was heard over the room and the baby *olted in his sleep ma!ing
Luhan muttered multiple Im sorrys.
Chanyeol thought so hard and focused intently because he wanted to !iss the baby too and Luhan
was the first one to do it. 8eeling a little *ealous, though the three-year-old Chanyeol didnt
understand but he can already feel it.
Can I kiss him too?

&he room went silent.
Chanyeol turned and loo!ed at his mom. He realized he said that aloud. His mom smiled at him.

#5ou can !iss him first Chanyeol.$ Luhan said as he offered a genuine smile.
He loo!ed at his step dad wanting to as! for permission and Chanyeol got a strong firm of his
body helping him to reach the baby with him pushing himself to the small body.
#5ou can !iss little /ae!hyun now.$ His father said.
He can feel his heart hammering against his chest as he softly places his lips on baby /ae!hyuns
soft ones.
7n that day, Chanyeol and /ae!hyun had their first !iss.
