Decoding

for Interpersonal Students


Objective: Students will create a presentation of their sight words to watch and
practice from.
Standards:
Decoding
1.1.11 Read common, irregular sight words (e.g., the, have, said, come, give, of).
Technology:
1.a Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes
2.a interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety
of digital environments and media
Materials:
iPads (class set)
iMovie app installed on iPads
Appropriate level sight word lists
IEP goal tracking chart
Preparations:
Teacher must prepare lists of sight words
iPads must be charged
iMovie app must be downloaded
IEP goal tracker
Instructional Directions:
Students will pair up
Teacher will dismiss groups to get their iPads (one per pair)
Students will use the trailers feature in the iMovie app to create a presentation of
their sight words
Students will save their using their name and date as the title and use it to practice
their sight words
Teacher will use a goal tracking chart to record progress on each students ability
towards meeting this IEP goal

Objective: Students will create a presentation of their sight words to watch and
practice from.

Camera app on iPads

Index cards
Markers

Preparations:
Teacher must prepare lists of sight words
iPads must be charged
Animoto app must be downloaded

Instructional Directions:
Students will write each of their sight words on index cards using markers
Students will use the camera on their iPads to take pictures of each of these cards
Students will input these pictures to the Animoto app and create a presentation
Students will save their presentation and review it to learn their sight words
Teacher will use a goal tracking chart to record progress on each students ability
towards meeting this IEP goal

Objective: Students will create a song or rap of their sight words to listen and practice
from.
Standards:

1.1.11 Read common, irregular sight words (e.g., the, have, said, come, give, of).
Technology:
1.a Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes
2.a interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety
of digital environments and media

Autorap app by Smule installed on iPads
Appropriate level sight word lists
IEP goal tracking chart
Preparations:
Teacher must prepare lists of sight words
iPads must be charged
Autorap app must be downloaded
IEP goal tracker
Instructional Directions:
Teacher will dismiss groups to get their iPads (one per student)
Students will use the Autorap app to record themselves saying their sight words
Students will save their song/rap using their name and date as the title and use it to
practice their sight words
Teacher will use a goal tracking chart to record progress on each students ability
towards meeting this IEP goal
