geleceğim, gideceğim, etc.

(future tense positive)

The future tense is used for actions which will take place in the future. Expressions of
time like yarın (tomorrow), gelecek hafta (next week), öğleden sonra (in the afternoon)
are used with this tense.

• Yarın parka gideceğiz. (We will go to the park tomorrow.)

• Gelecek hafta Almanya’da olacağım. (I will be in Germany next week.)

Structure: verb + ecek/acak + personal suffix

Ben → + verb + eceğim / acağım

Sen → + verb + eceksin / acaksın
O → + verb + ecek / acak
Biz → + verb + eceğiz / acağız
Siz → + verb + eceksiniz / acaksınız
Onlar → + verb + ecekler / acaklar

Use:

1- If the last syllable of the verb includes one of the vowels e, i, ö, ü, then the
future tense ending will be -eceğim, -eceksin, -ecek, etc.

Tarkan yarın konser verecek. (Tarkan will give a concert tomorrow.)

Projeyi gelecek hafta bitireceğim. (I will finish the project next week.)
Seni daima seveceğim. (I will always love you.)

2- If the last syllable of the verb includes one of the vowels a, ı, o, u, then the
future tense ending will be -acağım, -acaksın, -acak, etc.

Evimizi gelecek ay satacağız. (We will sell our house next month.)
Yarın sabah parkta koşacağım. (I will run in the park tomorrow morning.)

3- If the verb ends in a vowel, we insert the helping letter y between the verb and
the future tense ending.

Ders on dakika içinde başlayacak. (The lesson will start in ten minutes’ time.)
Seni durakta bekleyeceğim. (I will wait for you at the bus stop.)

4- The letter t in the verbs like seyretmek, gitmek, etmek changes into d as in the
examples below:

Çocuklar öğleden sonra bir film seyredecekler. (The children will watch a film in the
afternoon.)
Yarın İstanbul’a gideceğim. (I will go to İstanbul tomorrow.)
