Preparing for my Saints Profile

of June (or earlier)

If you are not doing your Confirmation (or have already done it) then you need to
choose the name of a Saint you want to learn more about.


You need to take notes (dot point) about your saint. This will not be easy as some
saints are easier to research than others. You can have a parent help with this but
make sure you understand your notes and make sure they are IN YOUR OWN
WORDS.
St Ignatius was a spanish knight
His full name is Inacio lopez
He died july 31 1556 in rome Italy
He was a theologian
He founded Jesuits
He was the superior general of the Jesuits
He was born on October 23 1491 in Loyola ,Spain
He was canonized on march 12 by pope Gregory the 15
th

He was seriously wounded in the battle of Pamplona
He lived in Spain, Italy and France
Studied Latin and theology
He is a patron saint of Catholic soldiers and Spain
The fruits he had were wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, wonder
and awe, knowledge and reverence
The gifts that he had were peace, joy, self-control, modesty, faithfulness and
goodness
You need to have enough notes to write a brief report on your saint (200-500
words).
He gave up being a kight to be a solider for God
He started praying 7 hours a day
He was the yongest of 13 children

What Gifts/Fruits of the Spirit did they show during their
lifetime?



St I gnatius of Loyola was born on October the 23
rd
1491 in
Loyola Spain, his full name is I nacio Lopez, he was the
youngest of thirteen. He died on J uly 31
st
1556 in Rome, I taly.
He was a Spanish knight and in 1521 a cannon ball hit, broke
and injured both his legs. While he was recovering, he read
the lives of saints and dedicated his life to be a soldier of God.
He then started praying 7 hours a day.


He finished his schooling in Paris and got a degree, he was
aged 43. Lots of people disliked I gnatius because of his
humble life, where he dedicated much of his time to God..
After that he attracted seven followers at the university, (where
he studied theology and Latin) including St Francis Xavier.
After that he started the J esuits or the Society of J esus and
was their superior general. The J esuits are a Christian group
who have a strong love an understanding of J esus.


During his life he spent his time in Spain, France and I taly.
He died when he was 65, he is the patron saint of Catholic
soldiers and Spain. He was canonized on March 12
th
by
Pope Gregory the 15
th
. The fruits that he showed were
wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, wonder
and awe, knowledge and reverence. The gifts that he had
were peace, joy, self-control, modesty, faithfulness and
goodness.
St I gnatius is still remembered as one of the founders and
members of the J esuits, who dedicated his life to J esus.
