CLASAR NON RETURN VALVE DN 80 TO DN 1800 mm

TYPICAL SPECIFICATION

A. GENERAL SPECIFICATION

A.1 Non-return valves shall be non-slam type (high dynamic answer) in order to
prevent the generation of secondary transient events (water hammers) when
pumps are suddenly stopped. The valves shall be of the spring operated
nozzle type with annulus shaped water ways.

A.2 Referring to Dynamic answer performances, all non return valves offered shall
provide a maximum reverse velocity of the water column of 0.10 m/s against a
deceleration of water column of 7 m / s2.

A.3 Dynamic answer performance curves shall be provided to the engineer for
approval (Reverse velocity against deceleration of water column). These curves
shall be the result of tests carried out by a recognised international
independent laboratory such as Delft laboratory.

A.4 Valves shall be Wafer type with short face to face dimensions for DN 500 mm
and below and double-flanged type for DN 600 mm and above.

A.5 Valves working pressure and flange drillings shall be in full compliance with
ISO PN10, 16, 20, 25, 40, 50* (Bars).

A.6 Every single valve shall undergo hydraulic tests as per ISO 5208 standard,
test certificates shall be submitted for approval.

A.7 Manufacturer shall be ISO 9001 approved on its quality system.

A.8 Manufacturers shall have of minimum 10 years of experience in the field.
Relative Job References shall be submitted for approval.

B. VALVE BODY

B.1 Body shall be made of ductile iron grade 400.15 minimum for fresh water,
Ni-resist ductile Iron type D2.B for sea water or stainless steel grade 316 for
critical applications.

B.2 The body shall be cast in one-piece, with profiled concentric rings supported
by spacers. This design shall ensure a good hydraulic profile (separated and
concentric fluid circulation) and a prompt recovery of the water flow.

C. SEALING ASSEMBLY - OBTURATOR:

C.1 The sealing assembly (obturator) shall be made in one-piece, free to move
longitudinally with an arrangement of concentric rings supported by spacers.
The obturator shall be guided longitudinally with a spring.

C.2 The sealing assembly (obturator) shall be made of polyurethane (Ureflex or
equivalent) with a maximum density of 1.1 in order to minimise the inertia of
the moving element and increase the dynamic performances.

D. SPRING

D.1. Spring shall be made of stainless steel grade 304 (minimum) for fresh water
applications. For sea water or critical applications, the spring shall be made in
INCONEL X750.

E. MARKING

E.1. Valves shall have marked in accordance with ISO 5209 standard :
size and maximum working temperature,
Maximum working pressure,
Material of the body
Material of the spring
Figure number and year of manufacturing.
