Goals:
Learn the power of propaganda during WWII
Learn why the governments around the world used WWII
Identify themes of propaganda in the United States

Objectives:
Content/Knowledge:
Students will be able to identify what propaganda is and
why it was used in WWII.

Process/Skills:
Students will be able to identify and list the different
effective tools that are used in propaganda.

Values/Dispositions:
Students will be able to label the different values and
emotional aspects that made propaganda so effective
during WWII.

Rationale:
Propaganda was a major part of WWII in encouraging
people across the world to be supportive of the war. It is
important for students to learn how the government kept
the people to support the war even after it had been going
on for so long.

State Illinois Common Core or Learning Standards
14.C.3 Compare historical issues involving rights, roles
and status of individuals in relation to municipalities,
states and the nation.

Propaganda pictures.
Evaluate them and compare/contrast them.
Choose a few categories that you could
numerically compare with these posters.
Make a chart/graph about the categories you
have chosen to numerically compare with

Create a speech based off of the message the
poster is giving.
Please include at the end of your speech why

Write a one page paper reflecting on why
they used propaganda as much as they did
during WWII and why it was such an effective
tool to use.

Evaluate them to see if there are any aspects
of nature in the illustrations and to see if the
words on the posters hint to what the
landscape of the countries looked like at the
time.
