Observations
As expected, all of the students scores improved but for each test, the average shows a different
comparison. Both of the Post test scores, ironically, showed an average of 83. The difference between
the two was the Pre average which was 55 for the Chapter 3 and 45 for the Chapter 6.
The differences were most likely attributed to the content in each lesson. For Chapter 3, the students
had already been working in Chapters 1 and 2 which dealt with different formatting and techniques in
Microsoft Word. Chapter 3 expanded on that with the students learning formatting that would be
considered the most common formatting in Word. This, the students were most likely already familiar
with much of the content even from using other programs like Google Docs.
Chapter 6 dealt with creating formulas in Microsoft Excel. Though some of the students had been
exposed to creating some simple formulas before, this was more difficult for them going into the lesson.
The larger increase in the average probably resulted in them learning more information that they didnt
know coming in than chapter 3.
The next few pages shows bar charts for both Chapter 3 and Chapter 6. There is an Average Score
comparing the pre and post tests as well as a chart that show the letter grade breakdown for each test.
