The Nok Culture

The Nok culture was a great ancient African culture. It was located in Western Africa, were
today is Nigeria. The culture started to develop around 500BC and mysteriously this great
ancient African culture started to disappeare around 200AD. During this time the Nok culture
invented terracotta and learned to smelt and forge iron. The people of the Nok civilization
were the first Africans that knew how to smelt and work with iron and they were also the first
sub-Saharan producers of life-sized Terracotta. Most of the people were farmers. The Nok
culture was an advanced culture for that time in Western Africa.

The information about the Nok civilization is changing every day because new artifacts are
found.

Over time archeologists have found many artifacts from the Nok culture. The Nok people
had a very advanced social system for that time. In the artifacts that the archeologist have
found shows that the Nok people were very organized, because even thou they were farmers
they had a very advanced social system. They knew how to smelt and forge iron. Nok’s
civilization was the earliest sub-Saharan civilization that produced life-sized Terracotta. The
Nok culture was an Iron Age culture. In the evidences that the archeologists found, show that
the people of the Nok culture were farmers and that they used iron to make better farming
tools. The information about the Nok culture is changing every day because new artifacts are
found.

Much of what is known about the Nok culture comes from archeologists. The things that
are known about the Nok culture come from artifacts that archeologists found. The Nok
people made many artifacts with people and animals. The scientist tried to figure out what
were the artifacts and tools that the Nok people had for. The information about the Nok
culture is coming from the archeologists.

When new artifacts are found scientist try to find out more details about the Nok culture
and our knowledge is getting better. Every time archeologists find a new artifact than people
know more about that place were the artifact was found. New information about the Nok
culture is found every day and more is known about the Nok culture.

The Knowledge that is known about this ancient African culture comes from archeologists
and when they find new artifacts the knowledge about this ancient African culture becomes
