IIT Bombay is a small township in itself. Consciously developed, the campus has
retained and increased its green cover, rich in natural flora and fauna.
The campus is connected to the city proper, an hour's distance through buses and local
trains. However, most facilities are available on campus itself, including a bank, a
shopping centre, two ecellent schools for children, and a well e!uipped hospital.

The peaceful atmosphere of the campus belies the full range of activities going on that
complement academic life

The climate in %umbai throughout the year is temperate being hot and humid in summer
to being pleasant in winter. Its never too hot nor too cold. It rains !uite heavily during the
monsoon months of -une, -uly and "ugust. The climate is cooler at IIT than its
surroundings . the reason is that it is located between two lakes and also surrounded by
greenery.

/uring the course of stay at IIT Bombay, the student will be availing facilities such as Central
#ibrary 2reading facility5, computer access, gymkhana and =;/ facility at the IIT Hospital. The
student should obtain a personal insurance policy covering sickness and accidents before leaving
their home country.
In order to avail of the book$issuing facility at the InstituteKs Central #ibrary, the student has to
pay a #ibrary /eposit 2refundable5 of <s. ,8,888+$ at the time of admission.

In cases where the fees are being wire transferred to IIT Bombay by the sponsoring

courses need to be filled up on the form and has to be signed by the faculty

giving the details of your laptop 2such as make, serial nos., etc.5 D your
academic details at IITB. "ttach a copy of your identity card. If you have a
copy of the purchase bill or receipt for the laptop, attach it also with the
application.
ii5 If your stay is for a short duration, the Chief (ecurity officer will
countersign on your application itself D return the letter to you. If your stay
is for a longer duration, they may issue a M;ass for the laptopN to you.
Cindly keep these documents safely with you so that you do not face any
problem in carrying the laptop during your stay at IITB and while leaving
from the campus at the end of your study period.

Pou can open a bank account, if re!uired, with Canara Bank+ (tate Bank of India
located in the IITB campus.

Take a rickshaw from IIT to CanEurmarg station and get down at the
second entrance to the station 2ticket counter end5, purchase tickets from
