SECTION 14000
ELECTRIC ELEVATORS
PART 1 SCOPE
This specification covers the requirements for the design, furnishing, fabrication, and erecting at site of permanent
magnet gearless electric elevators for the building.
1.01 WORK INCLUDED

1.01.1 The work includes, but is not limited to, the following
A. Machinery beams, braces, bearing plates, fiation of steel structures in concrete and grouting.
!. "ounterweight, guides# rails, well lubricated guide shoes and buffers, steel ropes and well lubricated pulleys.
". $oist way doors, frames, and stills.
%. %oor hangers, cover plates, facial plates, dust covers, and toe guard.

required software.

All dimensions given there in shall be coordinated and confirmed prior contract award and continually
coordinated with all other disciplines in activity at the site, through the "onsultant, during the eecution
progress of specifically the civil and plastering works.

PART 2 QUALITY STANDARDS
2.01 GENERAL
The contractor shall control the quality of items and services to meet the requirements of this specification,
referenced codes and standards, and other contract documents.
2.02 CODES AND STANDARDS
8.08.1 The requirements of this specification are based on conformance with the following 90. "odes and 0tandards or

3.01 ENGINEERING DOCU)ENTS
=.01.1 The contractor shall submit the following &ngineering %ocuments.

supports and enclosure guide rail supports, $oistway door framing, car construction details and monorails in
machine room.

PART 4 DESIGN REQUIRE)ENTS
4.01 GENERAL
&levators and appurtenance shall be designed in accordance with the requirements of the relevant A30, code.
4.2 DESIGN REQUIRE)ENTS FOR ELEVATORS REFER TO PARTICULAR SPECIFICATIONS.
4.03 SEIS)IC DESIGN REQUIRE)ENTS
?.0=.1 The anchorage of all elevator equipment located in the hoist way shall be designed, fabricated, and erected to
withstand the seismic requirements of relevant !uilding codes.
?.0=.8 The elevator manufacturer design shall insure that counterweights will not leave the guides and the guides will
not break loose under a@m seismic requirements.
PART * )ATERIALS
*.01 GENERAL
&levator components shall conform to the design requirements in article ?.0.
The electric elevator shall be installed from genuine and standard product of reputed Manufacturer "ompany to
be selected through bids, from specified vendor list acceptable to the owner
*.02 DRIVING )AC+INE )OTOR
A.08.1 The gearless traction motor shall be permanent magnet motor designed for elevator service, capable of operating
the elevator specific load and speed without eceeding the 3&MA stipulated temperature. Motor insulation shall
be class ! or better in accordance with the 3&MA standard. The motor shall be provided with built(in brakes. The
motor torque ripples should be small.
A.08.8 0upporting beams and plates shall be of steel conforming to A0TM standards.
*.03 CAR ENCLOSURE
The car enclosure shall be 8.0(mm sheet steel. ,nterior finish materials and the removable pads shall have a
maimum flame spread rating of 80 conforming to A0TM & B?. &posed hardware such as handrails, pad hooks,
and push(button panels shall be stainless steel.
*.4 CAR DOOR
The car door shall be telescopic, side opening, with sheet steel facing, not lighter than 1.C0 mm. %oor
construction shall be flush with sound attenuating incombustible core. The leading edge of the sliding door shall

have a rubber or vinyl safety strip. The doorframe shall be not lighter than 1.C0 mm.

$oist way doors shall be telescopic, side opening, with sheet steel facing, not lighter than 1.C0 mm. %oor
constructions shall be flush, with sound attenuating incombustible core. %oorframes shall be not lighter than 1.C0
mm.
The door motor should be frequency regulated derive.
*., LEVELING DEVICES
The car shall have a Two(way automatic maintaining type level device.
0mooth performance with steeples acceleration and retardation are to be provided with a leveling accuracy of a
fraction of a millimeter, and the final stop at floor level is to be achieved dynamically after which the brake shall be
applied to hold the elevator car stationary.
*.- OPERATING AND SIGNAL AND CONTROL PANELS
5perating and signal shall be a push(button automatic system. 5peration shall include control panel in the car.
The control panel shall be flush mounted, consisting of a key(operated override switch, a bank of buttons
numbered to correspond with the landings served, buttons labeled %557 52&3, an emergency ( stop switch,
and a red alarm button connected to the emergency alarm.
The nearest landing in the same direction of travel has the priority to be answered.
&ach landing and car call button shall light when the button is pressed and shall remain lighted until the call is
answered.
All landing requirements from the car or from the floor could be registered and automatically answered.

The owner shall select color from manufacturer standard color range.
All structural and uneposed equipment shall be shop primed and finish painted.
2assenger elevators shall be designed as per clause 1.1.1 above. 0amples of cladding, covering and paneling
materials for doors, wall roofs, landing sills, and arrangement of car accessories, ornamental features, and control
shall be submitted with proposal prior contracting.

A.0<.1 &lectrical equipment and control shall conform to the latest applicable ,&&&, 3&MA, and A30, standards.
A.0<.8 -iring shall conform to the following:

!. -iring shall be complete, with every contact of each device, including spare contacts, wired to terminal
blocks for eternal connections.

permanent ( type marker.

PART , FA(RICATION
,.01 CAR ENCLOSURE
The car enclosure shall be fabricated in accordance with the reviewed data submitted and as follows.
The car shall be shop primed and finished painted. The car shall have an opaque translucent acrylic drop ceiling
with aluminum frames, above which are installed an adequate number of evenly distributed fluorescent light
fitures to provide uniform illumination of not less than 800 lu measured at the car floor.
An emergency light shall be included for each car. The emergency supply shall be automatically rechargeable
and capable of feeding a low power lamp for = hours and comes automatically into operation only in operation
elevator in case of emergency failure of electric supply. Also an alarm bell blinker shall be placed in the machine
room or the center of the hoist way and operated from the above(mentioned emergency supply. The indicator
should only be for the elevators, which were under operation when the supply failure occurred. "onvenience
outlets shall be provided on top of the car and underneath the car platform for elevator maintenance.
&levator shall be furnished with a stainless steel handrail on the side and back wall of the car. 2ad hooks shall be
provided near the canopy to receive the protective removable end. The protective removable pad shall be made
the full height to line the wall finish and it shall have an opening to allow car control panel operation.
,.02 KEYING
/ey(operated switches shall be equipped with cylinders to fit keying system.
PART - CONTROL AND PROTECTION
-.01 &levators shall have a single means for disconnecting all unearthed main power supply conductors for each unit.
%isconnecting means shall be provided and numbered to correspond to the number of the driving machine they
control.
The disconnecting means shall be an enclosed eternally operable fused load break switch or circuit breaker
arranged to be locked in the open position. 3o provision shall be made to open or close this disconnecting means
from outside of the hoist way.
The automatic circuit breakers provided in for the disconnecting means shall be selectively coordinated with any
and all other supply side over current protective devices.

The disconnecting means shall be located where it is readily accessible to qualified persons. The disconnecting
means shall be located within sight of the power converter or motor starter. -here the disconnecting means is
not within sight of the hoist machine or control panel, an additional manually operated switch shall be installed
ad4acent to the remote equipment, connected in the control circuit to prevent starting.
-here multiple disconnecting means are used and parts of the control panel remain energiEed from a source
other than the one disconnected, a warning sign shall be supplied to be mounted on or ad4acent to
disconnecting means. The sign shall be clearly legible and shall read F-arning(parts of the control panel are not
de(energiEed by this switchF. Also where interconnections between control panel are necessary from source
other than the one disconnected, a warning sign shall be supplied in accordance with the above mentioned
warning sign and shall be mounted on or ad4acent to the disconnecting means.
-.02 &levators shall have a single means for disconnecting all unearthed car light and accessories power supply
conductors from each unit.
-here there is equipment for more than one car in the machine room, disconnecting means shall be numbered to
correspond to the number of the elevator car whose light source they control.
The disconnecting means shall be arranged to be locked in the open position and shall be located in the machine
room for that car.
-.03 "ontrol and operating circuits and signaling circuits shall be protected against over currentG Motors shall be
protected against overload.
-.04 The frames of all motors, elevator machines, controllers, and the metal enclosures for all electric devices in or on
the car or in the $oist way shall be earthed
-.0* 0ome of elevators shall be powered by an emergency power system.
The contractor shall submit traffic analysis computations with his proposal for evaluation and 4ustification of the
proposed elevator speed before contract award.
Also a chime signal at the floor shall indicate the soon arrival departure of the car.
Two buEEers, one in the machine room while the other is at the attendant room *ground floor+ or any other place
to be recommended by the owner.
The alarm section of the microprocessor control panel shall have an integrated circuit board to receive fire alarm
signal commands. The panel shall force the cars to stop to the nearest floor to evacuate the passenger or
respond to commands received from the fire detection and alarm systems that shall be coordinated together and
submitted for the approval of the 5wner@"onsultant.
5nly firemen can call the cars down to the ground floor a special key.
The "ontractor shall coordinate between the manufacturer of the elevators and fire system for interfacing to
integrate both inherent security and fire protection.
PART . INSPECTION AND TESTING
..01 PERFOR)ANCE TESTING
,nspection and testing shall be performed prior to final acceptance in accordance with A30, Al ;.8 requirements.
All moving parts and operable equipment shall be tested and ad4usted as required to be within the acceptable
tolerance. Tests shall be certified.

..02 PER)ITS AND LICENSING
5perating permits and licensing from regulatory agencies shall be obtained and delivered to 5wner prior to final
acceptance. A guarantee period of one year is required.
..03 OPERATING AND )AINTENANCE )ANUALS
&levators operating and maintenance manuals with as built wiring diagrams and standard parts lists shall be
bound in A? siEe and shall be delivered to owner before final acceptance.
..04 CONTINUING )AINTENANCE
The contractor shall present a form showing the yearly maintenance agreement to the 5wner indicating he terms,
conditions obligations and prices, under separate cover that should be presented with the proposal.
PART / FIELD OPERATIONS
/.01 INSTALLATION
<.01.1 &levator components shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of the relevant standards.
<.01.8 All elevator components shall be installed with sufficient anchors and welds to withstand the prevailing seismic
requirements.
<.01.= The mechanism and wearing surfaces of moving parts shall be fully lubricated after installation
<.01.? &lectrical wiring and connections shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of the relevant standard
specifications.
